Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Architect, build, and continuously optimize Allegiant’s hybrid cloud network fabric, ensuring seamless, secure, and high-performance connectivity between our on-prem data centers, 100+ branch airports, and AWS cloud workloads that power the airline’s passenger services, crew operations, and revenue systems.
- • Serve as the go-to subject-matter expert for cloud networking, owning the design, implementation, and day-2 operations of AWS VPCs, Transit Gateways, Security Groups, Network ACLs, Direct Connect, and VPN tunnels while integrating with existing Cisco ISR/ASR, Nexus, Catalyst, and SD-WAN infrastructure.
- • Translate complex business requirements into resilient network designs that guarantee 99.99 % availability for mission-critical applications such as reservation systems, flight operations, baggage tracking, and mobile boarding—directly impacting 20 million annual passengers and $2 B in annual revenue.
- • Automate repetitive network tasks using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or Python SDKs) to accelerate cloud migrations, reduce human error, and free the team for higher-value innovation; maintain CI/CD pipelines that push configuration changes from dev to prod in minutes, not days.
- • Partner with Security, DevOps, and SRE teams to embed zero-trust principles, next-gen firewall policies (IDS/IPS, DLP, anti-malware, DDoS mitigation), and continuous vulnerability management into every layer of the network, ensuring SOC 2, PCI-DSS, and DOT compliance without slowing release velocity.
- • Own the full lifecycle of DNS, DHCP, and IPAM across hybrid environments—leveraging Route 53, Infoblox, and custom automation—to guarantee accurate, conflict-free addressing that scales from a handful of cloud accounts today to dozens tomorrow.
- • Establish and maintain observability standards using CloudWatch, CloudTrail, SIEM, Syslog, sFlow/NetFlow, and third-party tools (Cisco Prime DNA, WhatsUpGold, Nagios, AppDynamics, Riverbed) to detect anomalies, forecast capacity, and drive data-backed decisions that keep latency under 50 ms for customer-facing APIs.
- • Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation—topology diagrams, runbooks, standards, policies, and procedures—ensuring knowledge is never tribal and new team members can contribute on day one.
- • Act as escalation point for P1 incidents, leading war-room bridges, root-cause analyses, and post-mortems that turn outages into learning opportunities and prevent recurrence.
- • Participate in disaster-recovery planning and quarterly failover exercises, validating that RPO/RTO targets of <15 minutes are met for revenue-critical workloads hosted across multiple AWS regions and on-prem sites.
- • Contribute to the larger Network & Telephony team by supporting traditional routing, switching, wireless, and load-balancing needs across our Las Vegas headquarters, primary data centers, and airport gates; occasionally travel to remote sites for troubleshooting or project work.
- • Stay ahead of the curve—evaluate emerging AWS services, attend re:Invent or equivalent conferences, run proof-of-concepts, and present findings to leadership so Allegiant remains an innovation leader in ultra-low-cost aviation technology.
- • Mentor junior engineers and cross-functional peers through brown-bag sessions, code reviews, and pair-programming, fostering a culture of continuous learning and psychological safety.
