📋 Description

As our Staff Accountant, you will sit at the financial heart of a firm that has closed landmark renewable-power, digital, transportation, and public-private-partnership transactions across five continents. Every journal entry you post, every reconciliation you complete, and every compliance return you file directly supports the precision and transparency that our pension-fund, contractor, and government clients expect when they entrust us with multi-billion-dollar mandates.
• Own the full-cycle accounting workflow for a fast-growing, remote-first business. You will prepare and post daily journal entries, enter and code all accounts-payable and accounts-receivable transactions, and maintain the cash-flow dashboard that our Partners rely on for real-time liquidity decisions. During month-end close you will lead balance-sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, and partner with deal teams to ensure revenue and expenses are recorded in the correct entities and periods.
• Become the go-to expert for Canadian federal and provincial compliance. You will independently prepare and file GST/HST, PST, EHT, WCB, and other statutory returns, monitor changing regulations, and implement process tweaks that keep us ahead of deadlines and penalty exposure. Your meticulous filings will safeguard our reputation with regulators and free senior leadership to focus on winning the next marquee mandate.
• Run an accurate, on-time payroll for employees in multiple provinces and, increasingly, international jurisdictions. You will liaise with our PEO, validate timesheets and commission calculations, and ensure source deductions and T4s/RL-1s reconcile to the penny. When new hires join from Singapore or Santiago, you will research local withholding rules and integrate them into our payroll calendar within days, not weeks.
• Produce concise, decision-ready financial reports for the Executive Committee and the Board of Agentis Capital Partners. You will transform raw trial-balance data into flash P&Ls, cash-flow forecasts, and variance analyses that spotlight trends, risks, and opportunities. Your commentary will guide Partners on when to draw on credit facilities, accelerate collections, or re-allocate capital across our four synergistic business segments.
• Champion continuous improvement. You will map current AP, AR, and close workflows, identify bottlenecks, and roll out cloud-based tools or simple macros that cut hours from recurring tasks. Whether you automate bank-transaction imports or build a dynamic FX revaluation model, your innovations will scale with the firm and become part of our collective playbook.
• Collaborate across time zones with investment-banking, asset-management, and mining-advisory teams who prize speed and accuracy. You will field ad-hoc requests—"What was the FX gain on the Chile peso exposure last quarter?"—and deliver answers backed by data and narrative. Your ability to translate numbers into insight will earn you a seat at the table when we structure the next green-bond issuance or negotiate a milestone-based earn-out.
• Grow your career in an environment that rewards initiative. Within 12–18 months, high performers transition to Senior Accountant, supervise junior staff, and begin supporting external audits and investor reporting. Longer term, you can pivot into fund accounting, FP&A, or even transaction structuring—our integrated platform means your next role is often one conversation away.

🎯 Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in business with a concentration in finance or accounting, or equivalent practical experience
• Demonstrated experience preparing journal entries, managing AP/AR, and executing month-end close in a multi-currency environment
• Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, dynamic formulas) and cloud accounting suites such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, or Xero
• Working knowledge of Canadian GST/HST, PST, EHT, WCB, and payroll regulations; familiarity with US state sales tax or international VAT is a plus
• Self-directed, highly organized, and capable of meeting tight deadlines while working remotely across multiple time zones
