- • Design and implement scalable data warehouse solutions by integrating client data with the Ignite platform, adhering to Health Catalyst’s architecture and standards.
- • Lead end-to-end migrations from SQL Server to Databricks, including schema mapping, query optimization, Spark SQL translation, performance tuning, and data validation.
- • Develop and maintain data products using dbt, ensuring high data quality, comprehensive documentation, and alignment with client analytics requirements.
- • Profile and analyze large, complex datasets to interpret multiple data models quickly and accurately.
- • Apply advanced data modeling skills using dimensional, 3rd Normal Form, and other industry standards, and clearly explain these concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- • Interpret complex client requests and implement solutions using Health Catalyst-specific tools including DOS Marts, SAMs, SAM Designer, Source Mart Designer, Databricks, and Visual Studio Code.
- • Communicate project status, risks, and outcomes effectively to stakeholders and leadership to ensure successful implementation and delivery.
- • Drive knowledge transfer and training initiatives for client teams and support internal onboarding of new data engineers.
- • Contribute to the improvement of internal tooling and processes to enhance team efficiency and data engineering practices.
- • Make sound, mission-aligned decisions on behalf of clients and peer groups that reflect Health Catalyst’s strategic priorities and organizational goals.
- • Quickly learn new software tools and technologies, and proactively seek training or assistance when needed.
- • Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal, problem-solving, and time management skills to navigate challenging situations and support team collaboration.
- • Anticipate, diffuse, and manage conflict resolution in cross-functional and client-facing environments.
- • Support the development and retention of world-class data engineering talent through mentorship and collaboration.
🎯 Requirements
- • Deep technical experience in SQL, ETL, data modeling, and cloud environments
- • Advanced data modeling skills with ability to explain dimensional and 3rd Normal Form concepts to diverse audiences
- • Hands-on experience migrating workloads from SQL Server to Databricks, including Spark SQL translation and performance tuning
- • Proven experience as a Data Engineer, Analytics Director, Technical Director, or similar role
- • Hands-on experience with dbt for building, testing, and documenting data models
- • Ability to interpret complex client requests and implement solutions using Health Catalyst tools (e.g., DOS Marts, SAMs, Databricks)
