Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Architect and own the next-generation, cloud-native data backbone that powers Lyric’s AI-driven healthcare payment accuracy platform, serving millions of transactions daily for payers, providers, and patients.
- • Design, build, and continuously evolve highly available, secure, and cost-efficient data infrastructure on AWS—leveraging Aurora PostgreSQL, RDS, S3, Snowflake, Lambda, Glue, Athena, and more—to support online transaction processing, real-time analytics, machine-learning feature stores, and executive-level business intelligence.
- • Establish and automate resilient ingestion, transformation, storage, and orchestration pipelines that scale elastically with 10× traffic spikes during open-enrollment periods while maintaining sub-second query response times for clinical editors and data scientists.
- • Champion Infrastructure-as-Code best practices using Terraform and GitLab CI/CD, enabling one-click environment provisioning, immutable deployments, and auditable change management that satisfy SOC 2 and HITRUST controls.
- • Optimize performance and cost across petabyte-scale data systems: tune PostgreSQL Aurora clusters, right-size Snowflake warehouses, implement intelligent S3 lifecycle policies, and introduce caching layers to cut data-platform spend by double-digit percentages year-over-year.
- • Guarantee 99.9 % platform availability through proactive monitoring, automated alerting, chaos testing, and participation in a follow-the-sun on-call rotation; lead blameless post-mortems that convert incidents into actionable engineering backlog items.
- • Partner tightly with application, analytics, and AI/ML teams to expose self-service, well-documented data contracts (APIs, dbt models, feature repositories) that accelerate new product launches from months to weeks.
- • Mentor junior engineers and data analysts through design reviews, brown-bag sessions, and pair-programming, raising the technical bar and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- • Drive strategic migrations from legacy Oracle RDS estates to modern Aurora PostgreSQL and Snowflake, scripting zero-downtime cutovers, validating data parity, and decommissioning old systems to reduce operational overhead.
- • Contribute to Lyric’s open-source-style internal standards—publishing runbooks, Terraform modules, and Snowflake best-practice guides—so every team can stand on your shoulders.
- • Influence the product roadmap by translating payer-provider pain points into scalable data solutions that prevent inaccurate payments and reduce healthcare waste, directly impacting the cost of care for millions of Americans.
- • Stay ahead of the curve by evaluating emerging technologies (Kafka, Databricks, OpenSearch, Cassandra) and crafting proof-of-concepts that could unlock new AI capabilities or regulatory compliance features.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years designing and operating cloud-based data infrastructure or database engineering solutions, preferably in AWS production environments.
- • 5+ years hands-on experience with AWS data services such as Aurora PostgreSQL, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda, Glue, and Athena.
- • Demonstrated expertise in PostgreSQL Aurora and Snowflake (or equivalent modern cloud data warehouses) including performance tuning, security configuration, and cost optimization.
- • Proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting or programming language (Python, Shell, or similar) for automation and data manipulation.
- • Proven experience building Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD pipelines using Terraform and GitLab (or similar tools) to automate data platform deployments.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive US base salary range of $122,425–$183,638, tailored to your experience, education, and work location.
- • Remote-first culture—work from anywhere in Pennsylvania (or beyond) with flexible hours and a stipend for home-office setup.
- • Comprehensive total-rewards package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and equity participation in a high-growth healthcare AI leader.
- • Recognition as part of the 2025 Best in KLAS award-winning team and a CandE Award recipient for exceptional candidate experience, underscoring a people-first, inclusive workplace.
