- • As a Senior Data Scientist at FutureFit AI, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the company’s mission to reduce economic inequality by building AI-powered solutions that connect job seekers with better opportunities faster and more affordably. Your work will directly impact underserved populations by improving access to meaningful employment through cutting-edge machine learning and NLP innovations.
- • You will own and drive high-impact initiatives across recommender systems, dynamic taxonomies of skills and occupations, agentic AI solutions for job seekers and employers, and data science strategy — serving as both a technical expert and mentor to elevate the team’s capabilities and ensure rigorous, production-ready outcomes.
- • The Data team at FutureFit AI operates at the intersection of mission-driven innovation and technical excellence, collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to translate complex labor market challenges into scalable AI solutions that power real-world workforce development.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in state-of-the-art NLP (including transformers, BERT, few-shot learning, and fine-tuning), large language model (LLM) applications, vector-based semantic search, and hybrid retrieval systems — while gaining leadership experience in shaping technical roadmap and mentoring junior data scientists in a fast-paced, high-trust startup environment.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of combined industry and/or graduate-level research experience in data science, machine learning, or NLP.
- • Proficiency in training and evaluating ML and NLP models using structured and unstructured data with a focus on reproducibility and production readiness.
- • Expert-level programming skills in Python and SQL, with a proven track record of writing reusable, well-documented, and scalable code.
- • Hands-on experience with LLMs for tasks such as synthetic data generation, automated evaluation, or accelerating model development pipelines.
- • Demonstrated ability to own ambiguous problems from concept (0) to production (1), translating vague business needs into deployed ML solutions.
- • Strong communication skills to convey technical insights and model outcomes clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- • Competitive base salary range of $115,000–$140,000, determined by experience and interview performance.
- • Hybrid work model in Toronto with office attendance expected 1–2 days per week (typically Wednesdays) at a central location near Union Station.
