📋 Description

• The Senior Developer will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend APIs that power content delivery systems for both internal stakeholders and public-facing consumer products, directly enabling Truetandem’s mission to deliver innovative, cost-effective technology solutions to major corporations, nonprofits, and federal agencies.
• This role is critical to ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and performance of core infrastructure, allowing Truetandem to support mission-critical applications used by millions of readers and enterprise clients across the United States.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and developing backend APIs in Golang that serve content to front-end teams and end users, ensuring low latency and high throughput under variable loads.
• The developer will automate infrastructure workflows by containerizing applications with Docker, orchestrating deployments via Kubernetes, and managing infrastructure as code using Terraform to enable consistent, repeatable, and scalable environments.
• They will leverage public cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP) to optimize application architecture for cost, performance, and resilience, utilizing managed services where appropriate to reduce operational overhead.
• Continuous improvement is expected: the developer will actively explore and evaluate new tools and techniques to enhance deployment speed, reduce resource consumption, and improve developer productivity through automation and observability.
• A key aspect of the role involves mentoring junior developers through constructive code review participation in pull requests, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and technical excellence.
• The developer will actively participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming, operating within a two-week sprint cadence to align with team goals and deliver incremental value.
• Operational ownership is required, including participation in an on-call rotation to respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to improve system reliability.
• The developer will help define, refine, and promote best practices in application and infrastructure monitoring, logging, alerting, and tracing using tools like Elasticsearch, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar observability stacks.
• They will collaborate closely with DevOps, frontend, product, and QA teams to ensure seamless integration between backend services and user-facing features, advocating for clean APIs, contract testing, and backward compatibility.
• The role encourages continuous learning and experimentation with emerging technologies such as AI-assisted development, serverless patterns, and service mesh architectures to stay ahead of industry trends.
• Success in this role will be measured by system uptime, API response times, deployment frequency, mean time to recovery (MTTR), and the developer’s ability to elevate team capability through mentorship and process improvement.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience with strong proficiency in Golang for building production-grade backend services and APIs.
• Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes), including deploying, scaling, and troubleshooting applications in cloud-native environments.
• Proven ability to design and implement infrastructure as code using Terraform or similar tools to manage cloud resources reliably and repeatably.
• Experience working with public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their managed services (e.g., RDS, S3, Lambda, EKS, AKS, or GKE) for scalable application architectures.
• Familiarity with observability stacks including Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana (ELK), Prometheus, Grafana, or similar tools for monitoring, logging, and alerting.
• Strong collaboration skills with experience in Agile/Scrum environments, code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers to improve team technical standards.
