- • Lead the development of manufacturing strategy, process plans, capacity models, and budgets for FATP (Final Assembly, Test, and Pack) of electric vehicles across two- to four-wheeled product lines.
- • Break down high-level manufacturing plans into actionable tasks and oversee tactical execution to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of production systems.
- • Design and build the centralized Manufacturing Engineering team org chart, define required job functions, and recruit, onboard, and develop team capabilities.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with product engineering and supply chain teams to design vehicles for manufacturability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- • Serve as the single responsible individual (DRI) for the successful bring-up of manufacturing lines during New Product Introduction (NPI) and sustain operations throughout the product lifecycle.
- • Lead the specification, design, and procurement of manufacturing lines, special process equipment, and data systems in partnership with product engineering and contract manufacturers.
- • Implement and validate local pilot manufacturing lines and process capabilities for A & B Sample vehicle builds, ensuring tooling and process readiness for scale-up.
- • Partner with contract manufacturers to deploy production lines for C, D Sample builds and transition to mass production.
- • Interface with AI and industrial automation partners to integrate cutting-edge technologies that reduce manufacturing costs and enhance high-mix, low-volume production capabilities.
- • Apply deep expertise in General Assembly (GA) and functional testing processes, as well as specialized subsystem manufacturing including battery and drive unit assembly.
- • Execute in-house manufacturing development when needed and manage relationships with external equipment suppliers and automation line integrators.
- • Travel globally (approximately 25% of time) to manufacturing sites in regions including Taiwan, China, Vietnam, Mexico, and India to support production ramp-up and operational excellence.
- • Hold accountability for end-to-end manufacturing execution from prototype to volume production across multiple vehicle platforms.
- • Ensure alignment between product design, manufacturing readiness, and supply chain capabilities to meet quality, cost, and volume targets.
- • Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes to support ALSO’s mission of delivering affordable, efficient, and delightful electric mobility solutions.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven leadership experience developing new product and process technologies from startup through volume manufacturing
- • Decades of hands-on experience deploying manufacturing processes and equipment for medium to high volume production
- • Demonstrated expertise in General Assembly (GA), functional testing, and specialized subsystem manufacturing (e.g., battery, drive unit)
- • Experience working with contract manufacturers and external automation integrators across global regions
- • BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
- • Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 25% of time to manufacturing sites in Asia, Mexico, and India
