📋 Description

• • As a Sr. Engineer, Knowledge Engineering at Coupa Software Inc., you will play a pivotal role in advancing the company’s AI-driven spend management platform by transforming complex enterprise data into structured, machine-readable knowledge representations. Your work will directly enable Coupa’s AI to reason over vast networks of spend data—spanning suppliers, contracts, commodities, purchase orders, invoices, and more—to deliver predictive, prescriptive, and automated insights that improve operating margins for global enterprises. This role is critical to Coupa’s mission of making margins multiply through community-generated AI, where your contributions will help turn trillions of dollars of anonymized spend data into actionable intelligence.
• • Day to day, you will design, develop, and maintain ontologies and knowledge graphs that formally represent entity relationships across Coupa’s platform, ensuring semantic consistency and scalability for AI reasoning. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, AI researchers, and product engineers to translate business domain knowledge into formal logical structures using standards such as RDF, OWL, or property graph models. You will implement and optimize knowledge graph pipelines using graph databases (e.g., Neo4j, Amazon Neptune) and SPARQL or Gremlin query languages, integrating them with machine learning workflows to enable multi-hop reasoning over spend data. You will also contribute to the evaluation and improvement of knowledge graph quality through metrics like completeness, coherence, and alignment with downstream AI model performance.
• • You will participate in agile development cycles, contributing to technical design reviews, writing clean, testable, and well-documented code, and mentoring junior engineers on knowledge representation best practices. You will stay current with advancements in semantic web technologies, knowledge graph construction, and AI reasoning techniques, proposing innovations that enhance Coupa’s competitive edge in intelligent spend management. Additionally, you will help define and enforce data governance practices around knowledge assets, ensuring they are reusable, version-controlled, and aligned with enterprise data standards.
