- • Design, build, test, and deploy Spring Boot microservices following strict team standards, owning code from design to production in a high-impact contract role.
- • Implement event-driven distributed systems using publish/subscribe messaging patterns and handle distributed transactions via saga or orchestration workflows.
- • Design and consume REST APIs, webhooks, and subscription APIs, actively contributing to API contracts, versioning, and documentation standards.
- • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code for services deployed on AWS, ensuring automated, repeatable, and secure deployments.
- • Operate heavily on AWS services including DynamoDB, Kinesis, SQS, SNS, KMS, API Gateway, ECS/EKS, Lambda, IAM, and RDS to deliver scalable, cloud-native solutions.
- • Diagnose and resolve production issues across distributed services using observability tools such as New Relic, Datadog, or OpenTelemetry for logging, tracing, and metrics.
- • Integrate LLMs into production services using function/tool calling, structured outputs, and the Model Context Protocol, with strict adherence to AI safety and governance guardrails.
- • Ensure PII and PCI data handling compliance within AI-driven workflows, applying governance controls to prevent data exposure and regulatory violations.
- • Leverage AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code or GitHub Copilot while exercising critical judgment to review, validate, and refine AI-generated code.
- • Apply solid testing discipline using JUnit, Mockito, and integration tests to ensure code reliability, maintainability, and regression prevention.
- • Work 100% on-site in the Miami / Fort Lauderdale area as part of an established engineering team, collaborating directly with peers on high-stakes technical initiatives.
- • Contribute to technical strategy around modern event-driven architectures and AI integrations within a fast-paced, international engineering culture.
- • Maintain operational excellence by monitoring service health, optimizing performance, and reducing incident response time through proactive observability practices.
- • Collaborate with a globally distributed team while operating under a contract engagement with high autonomy and strategic visibility.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of experience building backend services in Java, with 2+ years specifically in microservices and event-driven systems
- • Deep, hands-on mastery of Java 17+ with strong OOP and concurrency fundamentals, and production experience in Spring Boot and Spring Cloud
- • Solid, demonstrable production experience with AWS services including DynamoDB, Kinesis, SQS, SNS, KMS, API Gateway, ECS/EKS, Lambda, IAM, and RDS
- • Must be located in the Miami / Fort Lauderdale area and available to work 100% on-site for a contract engagement
- • Fluency with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot) and the critical judgment to review AI-generated code
- • Solid testing discipline utilizing JUnit, Mockito, and integration testing
