📋 Description

• As Sr. Manager, Data & AI Platform at Coupa Software Inc., you will lead and grow the India-based engineering team responsible for building the data infrastructure that powers Coupa’s AI-driven total spend management platform, which processes trillions of dollars of spend data from a global network of 10M+ buyers and suppliers to enable predictive, prescriptive, and automated business decisions that improve operating margins.
• You will own the end-to-end delivery of data pipelines, data quality systems, and AI data infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance to support production ML models and AI features used by thousands of enterprise customers worldwide.
• You will act as a critical bridge between the India and US engineering teams, aligning priorities, synchronizing delivery timelines, and fostering seamless collaboration to ensure global consistency in platform capabilities and innovation velocity.
• You will recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of data engineers, platform engineers, and AI infrastructure specialists, establishing clear career paths, technical excellence standards, and a culture of ownership, experimentation, and continuous learning.
• You will drive technical strategy for the data platform, evaluating and adopting modern data stack technologies (including streaming, batch processing, data lakes, data warehouses, and metadata management) to optimize for cost, latency, and scalability while maintaining strict data governance and compliance standards.
• You will partner closely with data science, product, and ML engineering teams to translate AI use cases into robust, production-ready data foundations, ensuring that features like anomaly detection, spend forecasting, and intelligent recommendations are backed by high-quality, timely, and well-governed data.
• You will champion data quality and observability initiatives, implementing monitoring, alerting, and data testing frameworks to detect and resolve issues proactively, thereby increasing trust in data across the organization.
• You will contribute to Coupa’s mission of making margins multiply by enabling smarter, faster, and more profitable business decisions through AI — directly impacting the financial performance of global enterprises across industries.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or AI infrastructure, with at least 3 years in a people management or technical leadership role overseeing distributed teams.
• Deep expertise in building and scaling large-scale data pipelines using technologies such as Apache Spark, Flink, Kafka, Airflow, or similar, with hands-on experience in both batch and stream processing systems.
• Proven track record of designing and operating data platforms on cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including data lakes (e.g., S3, ADLS), data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift), and metadata/data cataloging tools.
• Strong background in data quality, observability, and governance frameworks, including experience with tools like Great Expectations, Monte Carlo, or Databand, and implementing SLAs/SLIs for data reliability.
• Experience collaborating with data science and ML engineering teams to productionize ML models and AI features, understanding the data needs of training, feature stores, and inference pipelines.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with demonstrated ability to align distributed teams across time zones and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
