Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • As a Sr. Manager, Marketing Operations at Sur La Table, you will be the pivotal architect of our Integrated Marketing Team’s (IMT) strategic planning and execution framework. This is a critical leadership role responsible for translating overarching enterprise strategy into a cohesive, financially viable, and actionable marketing roadmap. You will operate at the forefront of our marketing endeavors, ensuring that our ambitious goals are meticulously aligned with our operational capacity, resource allocation, and investment guardrails. Your primary focus will be on the upstream planning processes, defining the ‘when’ and ‘how’ of our marketing initiatives to maximize impact and efficiency.
- • You will serve as the central authority for marketing planning, establishing the cadence, prioritization, and sequencing of all marketing activities. This involves deep collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Brand, Merchandising, Digital, and Finance, to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to market engagement. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing robust planning processes that enable Sur La Table to scale effectively and achieve its business objectives.
- • A key responsibility will be to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing calendar that reflects strategic priorities, seasonal opportunities, and key business moments. This calendar will be the definitive guide for the IMT, ensuring clarity, alignment, and efficient resource deployment across all marketing channels and touchpoints. You will be responsible for forecasting, budgeting, and financial stewardship of the marketing plan, ensuring that all initiatives are financially sound and deliver a strong return on investment.
- • You will champion best practices in marketing operations, continuously seeking opportunities to optimize our planning, prioritization, and funding processes. This includes evaluating and implementing new tools, technologies, and methodologies that enhance efficiency, visibility, and agility within the marketing organization. Your role will be crucial in fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
- • You will act as a strategic partner to marketing leadership, providing insights and recommendations to inform strategic planning and investment decisions. This involves analyzing market trends, competitive landscapes, and internal performance data to identify opportunities and mitigate risks. Your ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights will be essential for driving informed strategic choices.
- • You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining clear communication channels and reporting mechanisms to ensure all stakeholders are informed of the marketing plan, its progress, and any necessary adjustments. This includes developing dashboards and reports that provide visibility into key performance indicators, budget adherence, and overall marketing effectiveness.
- • You will play a vital role in the financial planning and budgeting process for the marketing department. This includes working closely with the Finance team to develop annual marketing budgets, track expenditures, and provide regular financial updates. Your ability to manage budgets effectively and ensure fiscal responsibility will be paramount.
- • You will be instrumental in defining and refining the governance framework for marketing planning and investment. This includes establishing clear roles and responsibilities, approval processes, and performance review mechanisms to ensure accountability and drive optimal outcomes.
- • You will proactively identify potential roadblocks or challenges in the marketing planning and execution process and develop mitigation strategies. This requires a forward-thinking approach and the ability to anticipate issues before they impact the business.
- • You will contribute to the development of long-term marketing strategies by providing operational insights and feasibility assessments. Your understanding of capacity, timelines, and resource constraints will be invaluable in shaping realistic and achievable strategic plans.
- • This role is distinct from creative production and day-to-day execution. While Creative Operations will own the governance of execution and production, your domain is the strategic planning, prioritization, and financial feasibility of all marketing initiatives. You are the guardian of the marketing plan’s integrity and its alignment with business objectives.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience (5+ years) in marketing operations, strategic planning, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on integrated marketing planning and financial management.
- • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business strategies into actionable marketing plans, including budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation.
- • Experience in developing and managing marketing calendars, prioritizing initiatives, and sequencing activities for maximum impact.
- • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
- • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus across diverse teams.
🏖️ Benefits

- • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans.
- • Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday schedule.
