- • The Sr Manager, Medical Affairs - UK (Remote/Flexible) is a strategic leadership role responsible for developing and executing the Medical Affairs strategy for the United Kingdom, ensuring alignment with Insulet’s business objectives and driving value through medical education, evidence generation, HCP/KOL engagement, and internal insights translation. This role is critical to enhancing regulatory approval, customer access, and adoption of Omnipod products in the UK market by leading cross-functional collaboration and influencing commercial, marketing, market access, regulatory, and sales excellence teams.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising country Medical Affairs staff, developing and leading the execution of the country-level Medical Affairs strategy, establishing and delivering local medical education plans (including online/in-person blended offerings, webinars, peer-to-peer training, congress and symposium participation), informing and strategizing evidence generation plans to support market access and regulatory needs, supporting the local execution of Insulet-sponsored and Investigator-Initiated trials, disseminating scientific evidence, identifying and engaging HCPs and KOLs through advisory boards and scientific exchanges, building and maintaining credible peer-to-peer relationships with national and regional key opinion leaders, translating clinical data into scientifically sound insights and claims, reviewing and approving externally-facing materials for scientific and medical accuracy using the Veeva system, answering HCP medical queries, assisting with sales events such as pump clinics and patient info nights, and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of diabetes, current scientific research, and Insulet’s product portfolio.
- • The role sits within the UK/Benelux leadership team and works closely with Insulet’s affiliate cross-functional teams to ensure HCP education and research needs are met, while also identifying and addressing the scientific and technical training needs of commercial and advocacy organizations. The Sr Manager collaborates with Global and other in-country Medical Affairs colleagues to develop and execute robust country launch plans for new products, ensuring excellence in execution and alignment with global medical affairs standards.
- • In this role, the individual will develop deep expertise in the diabetes device market, particularly within the UK healthcare landscape, while honing leadership, strategic influence, and cross-functional collaboration skills in a high-impact, innovative medical device environment. They will have the opportunity to shape medical strategy that directly impacts patient access to life-changing technology, build a strong professional network with KOLs and HCPs, and contribute to the generation and dissemination of real-world evidence that supports both regulatory and commercial success.
🎯 Requirements
- • MD, PharmD, PhD, or MS in life science or an equivalent qualification
- • 8 or more years of relevant Medical Affairs experience in diabetes within the pharmaceutical or medical device industry
- • In-depth understanding of diabetes disease state, current/future treatment landscape, and ongoing clinical trials/research
- • Understanding of UK medical practice and clinical decision-making regarding patient care for diabetes
- • Proven leader in Medical Affairs with experience developing and leading the implementation of medical strategy
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- • Broad understanding of the international commercial and regulatory environment for medical devices
- • Strong scientific acumen and attention to detail
- • Combined strategic thinking and execution skills
- • Demonstrated ability to integrate, lead, and influence in a challenging cross-functional environment
- • High ethical standards in interactions with HCPs, payers, and industry representatives
