📋 Description

  • • As a Sr. Platform Engineer at GoodRx, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and evolving our highly available, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP. Your role will involve applying sound architectural judgment and a long-term systems thinking approach, always balancing performance and reliability with cost-efficiency.
  • • You will be responsible for designing and developing reusable platform tooling and infrastructure-as-code modules. This will accelerate build and release management processes, while simultaneously enhancing reliability and ensuring consistency across various engineering teams.
  • • A core aspect of this role is a passion for process improvement through automation, sophisticated process engineering, leveraging artificial intelligence, and meticulous documentation. You will actively seek opportunities to streamline operations and enhance developer productivity.
  • • You will collaborate closely with application engineering teams to define, refine, and enforce operational standards, best-in-class deployment practices, and critical reliability expectations for all services.
  • • This position requires you to independently lead complex infrastructure upgrades, challenging migrations, and performance optimization initiatives, demonstrating strong ownership and technical leadership.
  • • You will conduct structured root cause analysis for production incidents, identifying the underlying issues and driving systemic improvements to prevent recurrence, thereby enhancing overall system stability.
  • • A key responsibility will be evaluating emerging technologies and making informed recommendations for improvements to our platform architecture, scalability, and cost efficiency, ensuring GoodRx remains at the forefront of technological innovation.
  • • You will be expected to meticulously document architectural decisions, operational standards, and comprehensive runbooks to foster knowledge sharing and empower the broader engineering organization.
  • • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to fellow Platform Engineer team members will be crucial. You will share your expertise on infrastructure design and DevOps best practices, contributing to the growth and development of the team.
  • • The role involves architecting and operating automated Linux-based cloud infrastructure in production environments, ensuring robustness and high availability.
  • • You will design and operate complex CI/CD pipelines, including blue/green and canary deployments, within large-scale production environments, optimizing for speed and reliability.
  • • Deep, hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation is essential, including proficiency in reusable module design and environment standardization.
  • • A strong software engineering background in languages such as Python or Go is required, enabling you to build sophisticated automation and tooling to address complex operational challenges.
  • • You will gain experience with build and release tools like Github Actions, GitlabCI, or Codefresh, contributing to efficient software delivery.
  • • A unique aspect of this role is the hands-on application of AI to accelerate research, coding, troubleshooting, and documentation workflows, pushing the boundaries of operational efficiency.
  • • Experience designing and implementing observability systems using APM, metrics, logs, and tracing tools (e.g., Datadog, CloudWatch, SumoLogic) is vital for proactively managing system reliability.
  • • You will leverage deep, hands-on experience operating Kubernetes clusters in production, covering workload orchestration, scaling, networking, and troubleshooting.
  • • Strong analytical and debugging skills are paramount, with a proven ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex, multi-system issues.
  • • Excellent collaboration and communication skills are necessary to effectively advise senior engineering partners and articulate technical trade-offs clearly.
  • • Exceptional time management and organizational skills will ensure efficient execution of responsibilities.
  • • You will contribute to GoodRx's mission of making healthcare affordable and accessible by ensuring the underlying platform is robust, scalable, and efficient.
