- • The Quality Engineering Department is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Quality Engineer to bolster The Zebra's expanding operational needs. This role is crucial for maintaining and enhancing the quality of our innovative insurance comparison platform. A strong foundation in software quality industry experience, coupled with proven expertise in test automation, is a prerequisite for success in this position.
- • In this dynamic role, your day-to-day responsibilities will be diverse and impactful, ranging from meticulous exploratory testing to the strategic automation of UI and API acceptance tests. You will be an integral, embedded member of a product development team, actively participating in all Agile ceremonies. Your contributions will be vital in shaping the team's automation strategy and leading project-level testing efforts. You will champion quality throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring that all issues are identified, meticulously documented, and effectively resolved.
- • A core aspect of this role involves the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of scalable UI and API automation frameworks. The objective is to significantly increase test coverage, enhance testing efficiency, and improve the overall reliability of our software. You will serve as the primary technical authority for automated testing within your team's feature development, actively contributing to the establishment and adherence of shared automation standards across the organization.
- • Beyond automation, you will execute critical acceptance and exploratory testing to rigorously validate application functionality and proactively uncover potential risks that might not be apparent through automated checks alone. Your keen eye for detail will help identify testing gaps, and you will be instrumental in driving the implementation of solutions that bolster automated test coverage and ensure long-term maintainability of our testing infrastructure.
- • You will take ownership of and contribute to the evolution of central quality engineering tools, frameworks, and technical approaches that are utilized by multiple teams. This cross-functional collaboration is key to maintaining consistency and excellence in our quality practices.
- • A significant part of your role will involve mentoring and supporting other quality engineers. This will be achieved through providing expert technical guidance, conducting thorough code reviews, engaging in pair programming sessions, and contributing to comprehensive documentation. Your leadership will help elevate the skills and capabilities of the broader quality engineering team.
- • You will collaborate closely with fellow quality engineers and engineering leadership to refine our Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), optimize CI/CD integration, and enhance our deployment processes, ultimately contributing to faster and more reliable software releases.

- • This position offers the flexibility of remote work across the contingent United States. While we embrace remote work, please note that we are currently unable to support work based out of California (CA), Massachusetts (MA), New York (NY), or New Jersey (NJ). We have successfully transitioned to a hybrid model, offering flexibility for employees who prefer fully remote, in-office, or a hybrid approach.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of quality engineering experience with sophisticated web or mobile applications and software systems.
- • Strong, hands-on experience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript in test automation contexts.
- • Deep experience designing and maintaining UI automation using WebdriverIO or similar frameworks.
- • Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives, own shared systems, and influence quality practices across teams.
- • Experience testing Web UI and APIs through both automated and manual approaches using tools such as Postman.
- • Strong understanding of Page Object Model design patterns, QA methodologies, regression strategies, and automation best practices.
