  • • The Sr. Sales Engineer at Dandelion Inc. plays a critical role in bridging technical expertise with sales strategy to close enterprise deals in the residential geothermal market. This position is essential for translating complex geothermal system designs into compelling, client-ready proposals that drive revenue growth and support the company’s mission to make geothermal the default heating and cooling solution in the U.S.
  • • On a day-to-day basis, the Sr. Sales Engineer will develop customized geothermal proposals including loop and manifold designs, heat pump specifications, and system integration plans tailored to enterprise clients such as homebuilders and multifamily developers. They will collaborate closely with the sales team to prepare and deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, quotes, and proposals that align with client needs while optimizing for performance, cost efficiency, and eligibility for rebates and incentive programs. The role involves serving as a trusted technical advisor, providing pre- and post-sales support to clients, educating stakeholders on geothermal technology benefits, and training enterprise sales teams on technical aspects of geothermal heat pumps. Additionally, the Sr. Sales Engineer will partner with engineering teams to refine product offerings, hand off technical specifications to project management, and support projects from pre-construction through implementation. They will also ensure all proposed systems comply with industry standards, tax incentives, utility rebates, and energy-efficiency requirements, while staying current on industry trends, competitor innovations, and emerging geothermal technologies to maintain a competitive edge.
  • • The Sales Engineering team at Dandelion operates within a mission-driven, multidisciplinary organization backed by Google Ventures and other top-tier investors. The team is united by a shared commitment to sustainability and innovation, working across hardware engineering, HVAC, drilling, solar finance, and startup operations to scale geothermal adoption nationwide. This role reports to the Sr. VP of New Construction and requires hybrid-remote work with one weekly in-office day in Kingston, NY, fostering collaboration while maintaining flexibility.
  • • In this role, the Sr. Sales Engineer will deepen their expertise in renewable energy systems, enterprise sales processes, and technical consulting within the HVAC and clean energy sectors. They will have the opportunity to influence large-scale geothermal deployments, shape product development through client feedback, and contribute to national electrification and clean energy policy efforts. Success in this role can lead to advancement into senior technical sales leadership, solutions architecture, or product management paths within Dandelion’s growing organization.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 3+ years of experience in technical sales, sales engineering, HVAC, or renewable energy
  • • Strong understanding of construction technologies, system components, and design principles
  • • Proficiency with Wrightsoft or similar energy modeling tools
  • • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • • Ability to work collaboratively across internal teams and with external stakeholders
  • • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related field (preferred)
  • • Proficiency in CAD software (preferred)
  • • Experience in geothermal or ground-source heat pump systems (preferred)
  • • Background working with homebuilders or multifamily developers (preferred)
  • • Prior experience at a startup or high-growth company (preferred)
