- • At Axon, we are driven by a powerful mission: to Protect Life. We are a company of explorers, dedicated to tackling society's most critical safety and justice issues through an integrated ecosystem of cutting-edge devices and cloud software. Our collaborative spirit, characterized by candor and care, allows us to harness diverse perspectives from our customers, communities, and each other, fostering an environment where innovation thrives.
- • Life at Axon is dynamic, challenging, and profoundly meaningful. Here, you will be empowered to take ownership, drive tangible change, and experience continuous growth while working diligently towards a mission that truly matters, in a company where you are valued.
- • As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) within the APX SRE organization, you will be instrumental in delivering robust solutions for the real-time challenges faced by our mission-critical, cloud-native services. Your relentless pursuit of high quality, reliability, and security will be paramount to meeting our customers' demanding expectations. You will collaborate closely not only with your SRE team but also with the broader engineering organization, ensuring your technical contributions enable product teams to consistently deliver groundbreaking features at the forefront of innovation.
- • In this pivotal role, you will make a significant impact within the Identity and Security domain. Your responsibilities will include helping teams build and operate systems that safeguard user identity, fortify authentication and authorization workflows, and ensure adherence to stringent compliance requirements. You will forge strong partnerships with engineering, security, and identity stakeholders to elevate the standard of secure-by-default reliability practices across the entire organization.
- • You will be responsible for building and enhancing robust, user-friendly foundational platforms and tools. These will empower our engineering teams to provision services rapidly, consistently, securely, and with a high degree of confidence in their testability.
- • You will embody and promote cloud-native Site Reliability Engineering best practices, with a strong emphasis on testability, automation, and resilience within distributed systems.
- • A key aspect of your role will involve designing and implementing comprehensive test strategies and frameworks. These will be crucial for validating reliability, performance, and security requirements, encompassing areas such as integration testing, end-to-end testing, chaos/resiliency engineering, and regression suites.
- • You will write code that is not only performant and maintainable but also clear, concise, and well-documented, adhering to the highest standards of software engineering.
- • Employing your strong problem-solving acumen, you will be adept at debugging complex issues within cloud-native distributed systems, leveraging logs, metrics, traces, and automated diagnostic tools.
- • You will contribute to the evolution of our platform features and tooling by designing clear, well-tested APIs, primarily utilizing Go or Python.
- • You will collaborate closely with Identity and Security teams to support and strengthen the user identity lifecycle and access control mechanisms. This includes enhancing authentication and authorization patterns, optimizing Okta integrations (such as SSO, OIDC/SAML flows, group/role mapping, and policy enforcement), and implementing compliance-aligned controls and security best practices.
- • You will play a vital role in ensuring our systems meet critical operational and regulatory expectations through the application of secure engineering practices, including least privilege principles, robust secrets management, comprehensive auditability, stringent change control, and adherence to a secure Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- • You will be expected to author detailed design documents, comprehensive test plans, threat-aware test cases, and clear usage guides to foster a culture of self-service and knowledge sharing.
- • We encourage you to take calculated risks, champion innovative ideas, and continuously cultivate your professional craft and expertise within the SRE domain.
- • This is a remote position, open to candidates located anywhere within Canada, requiring the ability to obtain RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status and Secret clearance.
