📋 Description

• As a Sr Software AI Engineer 3 - Context Engineering at WEX Inc., you will build the high-performance software foundation that powers enterprise AI, focusing on the Context Layer that fuels next-generation Agentic AI workflows.
• Day to day, you will implement AI infrastructure like a scalable Data Lakehouse for low-latency context retrieval, prototype emerging patterns such as Multi-Agent Orchestration and long-term memory management, maintain engineering excellence through code quality and CI/CD practices, build platform-level interfaces for agentic workflows including Host-to-Server communication, develop reasoning-based retrieval systems, and integrate protocols like Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agentic RAG for LLM interoperability.
• You will join a team at WEX Inc. dedicated to advancing enterprise AI through platform-as-a-product thinking, where your work enables other engineers to build autonomous agents with ease by creating tools, SDKs, and infrastructure that bridge systems programming and modern AI.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native architecture, and AI infrastructure while gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge agentic frameworks, GitOps, IaC, and AI-native CI/CD pipelines, positioning you at the forefront of autonomous AI systems development.

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on distributed systems
• Proficiency in Java or Scala and Python
• Experience building extensible APIs and libraries used by other developers
• Hands-on experience with agent development frameworks such as LangGraph or CrewAI
• Knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agentic RAG
• Proficiency in Terraform and experience with GitOps workflows (e.g., ArgoCD or Flux)
• Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure, including core services like IAM, EC2/VMs, and S3/Blob storage
• Experience using OpenTelemetry (OTel) for observability and tracking AI-specific metrics
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science (Distributed Systems focus) preferred, or equivalent deep industry experience
