📋 Description

• Sr. Software Engineer, Backend (Search Platform) at Dialpad, a leader in AI-native business communications, where you will contribute to building and maintaining scalable search platforms that power real-time AI-driven insights for over 70,000 global companies.
• Day to day, you will design, develop, and maintain information retrieval and distributed systems; build and optimize search engines including indexers, analyzers, ranking, and re-ranking strategies; work on hybrid search techniques involving dense vector manipulation, rank fusion, and reranking; ensure high availability and fault tolerance; collaborate with cross-functional teams; develop real-time microservices and message-driven architectures; implement monitoring and alerting; evaluate emerging technologies; write clean, well-tested code; participate in code reviews; and mentor junior engineers.
• Dialpad’s Product Engineering organization builds customer-facing features at scale across cloud-native products, with a strong focus on AI innovation through its DAART initiative (Dialpad Agentic AI in Real Time). The team is highly collaborative, includes Product Managers, Designers, QA, and engineers specializing in Data Engineering, Data Science, and Telephony, and operates from the Bengaluru office with a hybrid work arrangement.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in search platforms, distributed systems, and AI-powered information retrieval; gain hands-on experience with Go, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud technologies (GCP preferred); contribute to agentic AI products shaping the future of work; and grow as a technical leader through mentorship and ownership of high-impact systems.

🎯 Requirements

• 4-7 years of experience in information retrieval or distributed systems engineering
• Strong understanding of search platforms and experience maintaining search engines at scale
• Proficiency in Go and Python 3 (experience with Rust or TypeScript is a plus)
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerized deployments
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP preferred, AWS/Azure optional)
• Knowledge of gRPC or equivalent RPC protocols
