- • Senior Software Engineer II role focused on building resilient billing and invoicing services that power Pax8’s marketplace, directly supporting the monthly billing run critical to business operations.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting core backend services; owning complex problems end-to-end; modernizing legacy systems into scalable microservices; collaborating across teams; mentoring peers through code reviews and guidance; participating in on-call rotations during billing windows; and responsibly leveraging AI tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining ownership of correctness and quality.

🎯 Requirements
- • Substantial backend engineering experience, ideally building services in Java with Spring/Spring Boot in production environments
- • Proven ability to design and ship microservices and work effectively with distributed, highly available systems
- • Confidence navigating large, evolving codebases — refactoring safely, reducing risk, and improving systems incrementally
- • Strong engineering judgement around quality, testing strategy, reliability, and operational readiness
- • Collaborative mindset with ability to mentor others, give constructive feedback, and influence through clarity and example
- • Comfort operating in ambiguity and making progress when the path forward isn’t perfectly defined
- • Pragmatic approach to AI-enabled tooling — using it to accelerate real delivery while owning correctness, performance, and maintainability
- • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and support critical billing windows with calm, focused execution
