- • As a Senior Software Engineer on Rula’s Provider Scheduling team, you will design and build scalable, reliable backend systems that directly enable mental health providers and patients to connect seamlessly, supporting Rula’s mission to destigmatize mental healthcare and deliver compassionate, evidence-based care at scale.
- • You will architect and maintain critical scheduling infrastructure, third-party integrations, and telehealth functions, ensuring high availability and performance for a growing user base while collaborating across engineering, product, and clinical teams to solve complex technical challenges.
- • Rula is a remote-first mental health technology company dedicated to expanding access to quality care by treating the whole person, with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and currently hiring across most U.S. states (excluding Hawaii).
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in distributed systems, API design, and event-driven architectures while leading initiatives that improve system reliability and scalability, positioning you to influence technical strategy and mentor peers in a mission-driven, high-impact environment.
- • You will own the full development lifecycle—from planning and execution to post-launch monitoring and optimization—ensuring systems are secure, performant, and aligned with business goals, while advocating for best practices in observability, testing, and documentation.
- • You will partner with product and clinical stakeholders to translate provider and patient needs into technical solutions, improving scheduling accuracy, reducing no-shows, and enhancing the overall telehealth experience through data-informed innovation.
- • You will contribute to the evolution of Rula’s platform by evaluating and integrating emerging technologies, improving developer experience, and helping establish standards for scalability and resilience across the engineering organization.
- • You will participate in blameless postmortems, drive continuous improvement in incident response, and help foster a culture of psychological safety and technical excellence within the Scheduling team and beyond.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field, or comparable work experience
- • 5+ years of professional engineering experience
- • Expert understanding of application architecture, API design patterns, data modeling, security, performance, and scaling
- • Experience designing and building highly scalable, reliable, available, and performant systems
- • Experience driving all phases of the development lifecycle: planning, execution, measuring success, and post-launch maintenance
- • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with peers, partners, and stakeholders
