• • This position is central to the entire migration lifecycle, demanding end-to-end ownership from initial planning and design through to execution and post-migration optimization.
• • You will be instrumental in the day-to-day operation, meticulous optimization, and ongoing maintenance of Virtual Machines (VMs) seamlessly integrated within the OpenShift environment.
• • Serve as a senior technical authority, leveraging deep-seated expertise in virtualization technologies, robust Linux administration, the intricacies of Kubernetes/OpenShift, and the broader landscape of enterprise infrastructure.
• • **Infrastructure Design:** Play a key role in architecting and designing Bare Metal OpenShift clusters, specifically optimized for virtualization workloads to ensure peak performance for compute-intensive VM operations.
• • **Modernization & Migration Leadership:** Lead the comprehensive migration initiative from VMware vSphere to OpenShift. This involves strategic utilization of the Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV), conducting thorough pre-migration discovery phases, and executing "Warm Migrations" to significantly minimize downtime for critical, stateful business workloads.
• • **Advanced Storage Management:** Gain hands-on experience configuring and managing Portworx as the primary storage provider, operating on top of Pure Storage solutions, ensuring data integrity and high availability.
• • **Backup & Disaster Recovery Expertise:** Take charge of managing backup and disaster recovery strategies within Red Hat OpenShift environments. You will actively assist the dedicated DR team in the meticulous configuration of run books, essential for successful Client DR Testing scenarios.
• • **Operational Excellence in VM Management:** Oversee and execute critical VM-specific "Day 2" operations. This includes managing Live Migrations, performing node maintenance and draining procedures, and ensuring high-availability (HA) scheduling for optimal system uptime.
• • **Proactive System Optimization and Maintenance:** Continuously monitor system health and performance using advanced tools like CheckMK. Manage and optimize storage solutions provided by Pure Storage and HPE, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
• • **Advanced Troubleshooting and Resolution:** Act as the ultimate escalation point for complex technical challenges. Conduct in-depth root cause analysis, collaborating effectively with internal and external support teams to guarantee swift and comprehensive issue resolution.
• • **Collaborative Innovation and Knowledge Sharing:** Work in close partnership with a team of highly skilled engineers. Foster an environment of shared knowledge, drive continuous process improvements, and actively evaluate emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge.
• • **Critical Infrastructure Support:** Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, providing essential after-hours support to ensure the continuous operation of critical infrastructure components.
