  • • Join BlueCat Networks Inc., a trailblazer in Intelligent Network Operations, as a Staff Accountant and play a pivotal role in supporting the financial integrity of our global operations. In a rapidly evolving market, BlueCat is at the forefront of a new network operations model, integrating foundational core services with a deep, predictive understanding of network health and performance. This innovative approach enhances agility and mitigates risks associated with high rates of change, offering a unified management lifecycle from provisioning to proactive troubleshooting and remediation. As a key member of our dynamic Finance Department, you will contribute to our award-winning culture, recognized as a "Great Place to Work" and a top Canadian workplace in multiple categories, including Technology, Today's Youth and Women, and Mental Health and Inclusion. This is an opportunity to be part of a company that not only leads in technology but also champions a supportive and inclusive work environment.
  • • Your day-to-day responsibilities will be crucial to maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth execution of our financial processes. You will be tasked with completing essential journal entries for the monthly close, encompassing complex areas such as Intangibles, Leases (ASC842), Inventory, and Accruals. A significant part of your role will involve ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, a critical function for financial reporting and compliance. You will meticulously validate and prepare monthly account reconciliations, guaranteeing an accurate balance sheet across various accounts including Intangibles, Leases (ASC842), Inventory, Accruals, and Accounts Receivable. This detailed work underpins the reliability of our financial statements.
  • • Furthermore, you will be responsible for reviewing financial data to identify any inaccuracies or discrepancies, proactively addressing issues and supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the company. Your analytical skills will be put to good use as you assist in ad-hoc reporting and special projects, providing valuable insights to the finance team and leadership. You will also play a supporting role in our annual external audits and tax filings, collaborating with internal teams and external auditors to ensure all requirements are met efficiently and accurately. This involves gathering documentation, responding to inquiries, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • • A key aspect of this role involves identifying opportunities for process improvements. You will actively seek out areas where processes can be enhanced, including the potential for process automation, and will participate in the implementation of these improvements, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT). This proactive approach to optimizing financial operations is vital for our continuous growth and efficiency. Additionally, you will have the unique opportunity to gain leadership experience by contributing to the mentorship and guidance of our co-op program participants, fostering talent within the organization.
  • • The team you will be joining is a collaborative and dedicated group within the Group Accounting team, responsible for supporting the financial operations across all BlueCat subsidiaries. This role offers a chance to deepen your technical accounting expertise, work within a supportive environment, and contribute to a company that values transparency, curiosity, respect, and enjoyment. You will be an integral part of a finance department that is committed to excellence in financial reporting and compliance, working with a team that is passionate about driving financial success.
  • • In this role, you will have the opportunity to significantly enhance your professional skill set. You will gain in-depth experience with complex accounting standards such as ASC842 for leases and the accounting for intangibles and inventory. Your proficiency in financial systems will be honed, particularly with NetSuite, and you will develop a keen eye for identifying and implementing process improvements, including automation. The exposure to external audits and tax filings will further solidify your understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements. This position is designed to foster your growth, providing a solid foundation for career advancement within the finance field, and offering leadership experience through the co-op program.
  • • BlueCat Networks Inc. is a company that not only excels in its technological domain but also places a high value on its people and culture. We are proud of our "Great Place to Work" certification and our recognition as a top employer in Canada across various categories. Our commitment to inclusion and diversity is unwavering, and we strive to create an environment where all employees feel valued and have opportunities for advancement. We believe in fostering a workplace where transparency, curiosity, respect, and enjoyment are paramount, creating a truly exceptional employee experience.
  • • This role offers a unique blend of challenging accounting work and opportunities for professional development within a supportive and forward-thinking company. You will be instrumental in maintaining the financial health of BlueCat, contributing to our strategic goals, and growing your career in a dynamic and rewarding environment. Your dedication and expertise will be recognized and valued as you become a key contributor to our ongoing success and our mission to lead in Intelligent Network Operations.
