Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As a Staff Analytics Engineer at Kit Global Inc., you will build the canonical data foundation that enables every team to operate from a single source of truth, directly supporting the company’s mission to help creators earn $1 billion through reliable, auditable data systems.
- • You will lead the modernization of Kit’s analytics layer by refactoring high-risk models, resolving ambiguous metric definitions, and establishing documentation standards that reduce dependency on the data team for routine insights across Finance, Product, Marketing, Sales, and Creator Growth.
- • You’ll report to Samuel Umachi, Head of Data, and collaborate with analytic engineers, infrastructure engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to design, implement, and advocate for scalable, performant data models in dbt, Redshift, and Segment.
- • Your work will begin with onboarding in Notion, orientation to core tools (dbt, Github, Redshift, Omni, Slack, Linear), and an audit of existing Reporting Hub models to identify inconsistencies in churn logic, attribution, and warehouse performance.
- • Over the first six months, you’ll propose and execute a 6–12 month roadmap to refactor critical models, optimize Redshift distribution and sort keys, align Segment event architecture with reporting needs, and drive adoption of canonical metrics through direct partnership with functional leads.
- • By the end of year one, you will have completed the Reporting Hub foundation with consistent metric definitions, enabled true stakeholder self-serve analytics, reduced model rework via upstream design patterns, and elevated the data team’s sophistication through mentorship and shared tooling.
- • You will empower Finance to close faster with reliable revenue and subscription models, allow Product to make decisions with trusted cohort and performance data, and ensure leadership allocates resources based on a shared, trusted metric layer.
- • Your success will be measured by whether teams across the company can confidently explore data without needing the Data team for routine interpretation — turning analytics from a bottleneck into a force multiplier.
🎯 Requirements
- • Deep SQL mastery with expertise in writing readable, performant, and maintainable queries, including advanced join selection, cardinality management, and predicate placement.
- • Proven Redshift expertise, including deep understanding of sort keys, distribution styles, concurrency, vacuum, and analyze behavior, with ability to design around constraints without defaulting to infrastructure scaling.
- • Advanced dbt fluency: building modular, well-documented, refactorable code with strong opinions on macro design, test strategy, and scalable project practices.
- • 7–10+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a closely related role, with multiple years at a senior or staff level, including experience designing or significantly refactoring a warehouse modeling layer in production.
- • Demonstrated experience building or stewarding canonical metric definitions in a multi-stakeholder SaaS environment, particularly around revenue recognition, churn logic, or subscription modeling.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive standardized salary at Level 5: $198,000, regardless of location, with additional profit sharing and Kit equity participation.
- • Comprehensive health coverage: up to $2,100/month toward medical premiums (fully covered dental and vision) via Aetna, plus 401(k) with 5% company match.
- • Generous learning and development support: $3,500/year individual budget for courses, conferences, and certifications to fuel continuous growth.
- • Family-friendly perks: childcare benefit up to $3,000 annually, gender-affirming benefits, and 12 weeks of paid parental leave with flexible scheduling in the child’s first year.
- • Time-off and wellness: 20 days PTO, 10 paid holidays, 2 weeks paid sick time (including mental health), up to 6 weeks paid bereavement/medical/disaster leave, and a four-week paid sabbatical after five years.
- • Work-life and culture: $2,000 equipment allowance (first two years), $1,000 every two years thereafter, company-provided laptops, winter break closure, and fantastic in-person or virtual retreats twice a year.
