📋 Description

• Own the architecture and evolution of Mesh’s core backend systems that power real-time, high-throughput digital-asset transactions across 200+ exchange, wallet, and DeFi integrations. You will design fault-tolerant microservices in Go and TypeScript that process millions of dollars in volume daily while maintaining sub-second latency and 99.99 % uptime.
• Lead cross-functional squads of backend, security, and DevOps engineers to deliver end-to-end features—from whiteboard sketches to production rollout—using modern CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code on AWS and Kubernetes.
• Spearhead the next generation of Mesh’s payment-routing engine, leveraging graph algorithms, probabilistic risk models, and real-time market data to find the cheapest, fastest settlement paths across fragmented liquidity pools worldwide.
• Build and harden mission-critical APIs that external fintechs, neobanks, and crypto platforms rely on for deposits, withdrawals, swaps, and fiat off-ramps; every millisecond and every satoshi counts, so you will obsess over performance profiling, caching layers, and zero-downtime migrations.
• Establish company-wide standards for code quality, testing, and observability: define SLIs/SLOs, champion TDD/BDD, and mentor senior and mid-level engineers through architecture reviews, pair programming, and weekly tech talks.
• Collaborate directly with Product, Compliance, and Security teams to translate regulatory requirements (SOC 2, PCI-DSS, MiCA, travel-rule) into elegant technical controls—think deterministic audit trails, end-to-end encryption, and zero-knowledge proof integrations.
• Continuously evaluate emerging blockchain protocols (Layer-2 rollups, cross-chain messaging, MPC wallets) and make build-vs-partner recommendations that keep Mesh two steps ahead of the market.
• Contribute to open-source projects and represent Mesh at conferences, reinforcing our reputation as technical thought leaders in programmable money and decentralized finance.
• Foster a remote-first culture of psychological safety, inclusive feedback, and relentless curiosity; you will run blameless post-mortems, celebrate experimentation, and ensure every engineer feels empowered to ship bold ideas.
• Report to the VP of Engineering and help shape the 12-month technical roadmap, staffing plan, and budget; your decisions will directly influence how millions of users move value across the globe.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience, including 3+ years architecting high-scale, low-latency distributed systems handling >10k TPS or >$1 B annual transaction volume.
• Expert-level proficiency in Go or Rust, plus production experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, and AWS (or equivalent cloud) managed via Terraform and Kubernetes.
• Demonstrated ability to design secure, auditable APIs (REST & gRPC) and to integrate with blockchain nodes, custodial APIs, and traditional payment rails (ACH, SEPA, FPS).
• Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with Layer-2 scaling, zero-knowledge proofs, MPC custody, or DeFi protocols (Uniswap, Aave, Circle CCTP).
