📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain high-scale backend services for Cloudinary’s Assets product, enabling seamless management, transformation, and delivery of media assets via API and UI.
• Take full ownership of the end-to-end product lifecycle, from ideation and technical planning to deployment and post-launch optimization.
• Lead the modernization of a legacy Ruby monolith by decomposing it into modular, Go-based microservices with high reliability and performance.
• Architect and implement fast, scalable, and resilient APIs that serve both technical and non-technical users across global markets.
• Serve as a technical mentor and trusted advisor to backend engineers within your team and across other teams in the office, raising the collective engineering bar.
• Collaborate closely with product, frontend, and DevOps teams to align technical strategy with business goals and user needs.
• Drive innovation by proactively identifying technical debt, proposing modernization pathways, and implementing solutions with accountability and urgency.
• Participate in technical decision-making alongside product stakeholders, ensuring architectural choices deliver measurable impact and scalability.
• Work in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment with team members based in Israel and Poland, communicating primarily in English.
• Contribute to code reviews, system documentation, and on-call rotations to ensure system stability and knowledge sharing across the team.

🎯 Requirements

• Expert-level proficiency in Ruby and experience refactoring large monolithic applications
• Proven experience building and scaling backend services in Go
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and high-throughput APIs
• Demonstrated ability to mentor senior engineers and lead technical initiatives across teams
• Strong ownership mindset with a track record of driving complex technical transformations
• Experience working in cloud-native environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure)
