📋 Description
- • As a Staff Data Engineer on the Cloud Data Platform team at Calix, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of data infrastructure for Communication Service Providers (CSPs). You will collaborate closely with Cloud product owners to deeply understand and analyze product requirements, providing critical feedback that influences the direction of our data solutions.
- • Your core responsibilities will involve the design, development, and management of comprehensive data models, including conceptual, logical, and physical representations, alongside robust metadata solutions. This includes creating detailed data diagrams, mapping data flows, and maintaining corresponding data dictionary documentation to ensure clarity and consistency across the platform.
- • You will be tasked with determining the structural requirements for databases by meticulously analyzing client operations, applications, and data residing in existing systems, ensuring our data architecture is optimized for performance and scalability.
- • This role demands technical leadership, guiding the software design process to meet stringent requirements for service stability, reliability, scalability, and security. You will be a key contributor in technical discussions within the engineering group, making informed technical recommendations and driving best practices.
- • A significant part of your role will involve conducting design reviews and code reviews with peer engineers, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the team. You will also guide the testing architecture for large-scale data ingestion and transformation processes, ensuring the robustness and accuracy of our data pipelines.
- • Furthermore, you will engage in a customer-facing engineering capacity, actively debugging and resolving field issues, providing essential support and technical expertise to ensure the smooth operation of our data platforms for our clients.
- • You will leverage your expertise in cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub/Kafka, and Cloud Storage, as well as AWS services. Your proficiency in big data technologies like Apache Spark and Flink will be crucial for processing and transforming vast datasets.
- • You will utilize your strong knowledge of SQL and programming languages like Python, Java, or Scala, along with DBT, to build and optimize data pipelines and analytical solutions.
- • Experience with data visualization tools such as Google Data Studio, Looker, or ThoughtSpot, and leveraging BigQuery BI Engine for optimized reporting, will be essential for translating complex data into actionable insights.
- • This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of a generational change in the broadband industry, enabling CSPs to simplify operations, reduce costs, and accelerate innovation through real-time data, automation, and AI-powered insights.
- • You will contribute to the Calix mission of empowering CSPs to simplify, innovate, and grow, thereby strengthening both their businesses and the communities they serve.
- • By joining Calix, you will be part of a team that is connecting underserved communities with unrivaled digital experiences and helping our customers reach their full potential.
- • The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, especially when dealing with complex data scenarios.
- • Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders are paramount for success in this role.
- • You will also contribute to maintaining high standards of data governance, security best practices, and compliance regulations within both GCP and AWS environments.
- • This role is ideal for an experienced data engineer looking to make a significant impact on a leading cloud data platform serving the telecommunications industry.
