📋 Description

• Spearhead the identification and resolution of company-wide data platform challenges using cutting-edge solutions to enable AI and data-driven decision-making across Airwallex.
• Provide visionary technical direction for the Knowledge Platform team, leading hands-on resolution of complex problems in data infrastructure, AI/ML serving, and real-time data pipelines.
• Architect and oversee the evolution of Airwallex’s full data ecosystem into an AI agent-ready infrastructure by 2026, enabling natural language querying and direct customer engagement with data.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable, multi-geographical data pipelines using technologies including Databricks, Spark, Kafka, Airflow, DBT, and Google Cloud Platform services.
• Advocate for and instill best practices in data platform engineering, promoting craftsmanship, scalability, security, and governance across all data initiatives.
• Mentor and develop engineers and scientists on the data platform team, fostering technical growth, professional development, and a culture of innovation.
• Influence the company-wide data and AI technology roadmap by collaborating with cross-functional teams to align platform capabilities with business outcomes.
• Lead the design and development of standard framework modules, high-performance services, and client libraries for big data processing in a modern Lakehouse architecture.
• Conduct rapid technology evaluations and proof-of-concepts to drive architecture decisions and ensure adoption of optimal tools for real-time data delivery and model serving.
• Ensure robust data security, governance, and reliability across all data infrastructure components, including metrics stores, ETL frameworks, and data orchestration systems.
• Enable real-time, low-latency data access for instant decision-making by optimizing infrastructure for performance at global scale.
• Communicate technical strategies and outcomes effectively to diverse audiences including leadership, data scientists, engineers, and non-technical stakeholders.
• Drive end-to-end ownership of platform initiatives from concept through deployment and operational excellence in a fast-paced, global fintech environment.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in Data Platform or equivalent quantitative field
• Proven experience leading company-wide data initiatives or influencing tech roadmap planning
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and scientists and invest in team development
• Experience building and maintaining scalable, multi-geographical data pipelines
• Proficiency in ETL frameworks, metrics stores, infrastructure management, and data security
• Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow and DBT
