- • As a Staff Data Scientist at Asana, you will help define the company's growth strategy as users increasingly discover and adopt software through LLM interfaces like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, driving Asana's acquisition playbook for emerging AI-driven channels and reimagining customer onboarding in the AI-era.
- • You will work closely with Product Managers and User Researchers to understand new customer needs in their first minutes with Asana, employing data frameworks to analyze user segments, visualize the new user funnel, identify conversion levers, and personalize onboarding journeys for better adoption outcomes.
- • As part of the Product-Led Growth (PLG) organization, you will act as the "Data Lead" in a triad with Product and Engineering stakeholders to identify multi-year growth opportunities, prioritize roadmaps, design experiments measuring product progress, and own key performance metrics.
- • You will collaborate and mentor fellow Data Scientists to research, identify, and disseminate best practices across teams while working in a high-performance, dynamic team focused on velocity and software quality, learning about AI-Optimization and how LLMs can boost Asana’s value proposition.
- • Asana’s Data Science team informs strategy, defines success metrics, and identifies new ways to deliver user value by leveraging experimentation, causal inference, statistical and machine learning techniques, and data storytelling to deepen customer understanding and drive business outcomes.
- • This role is based in Asana’s San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule: standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, with optional remote work on Wednesdays and case-by-case flexibility on Fridays.

🎯 Requirements
- • 5-7 years of data science experience, with majority in growth-focused roles at B2B SaaS companies
- • Proven track record driving acquisition and activation for B2B SaaS products, with specific experience in top-of-funnel growth and new user acquisition
- • Expert in relational data modeling and SQL and fluent in at least one modern language useful for data processing (e.g. R, Python, or Scala)
- • Strong analytical foundation with deep fluency in experimentation, A/B testing, and funnel optimization
- • Experience with AI/ML products, LLM APIs, or third-party platform integrations, with strong preference for candidates who’ve worked with conversational AI or built features integrating ChatGPT, Claude, or similar platforms
- • Exceptional cross-functional leadership: ability to write crisply, tell clear stories, and influence across product, engineering, design, partnerships, sales, and executive stakeholders
