Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As a Staff Data Scientist at Assured Allies Inc., you will play a pivotal role in modernizing the insurance industry by building intelligent systems that automate and optimize claims processing—transforming a historically manual, error-prone workflow into a scalable, data-driven engine that saves insurers billions annually.
- • Your work will directly impact the speed, accuracy, and fairness of claims decisions for millions of policyholders, enabling faster payouts, reduced fraud, and improved customer experiences during some of life’s most stressful moments.
- • You will design and develop production-grade machine learning models for critical claims workflows, including liability prediction, fraud detection, and document/image understanding, leveraging both structured and unstructured data sources to drive actionable insights.
- • You will partner closely with product managers, engineers, and domain experts to translate complex claims workflows into feasible ML solutions, ensuring alignment between technical execution and business outcomes through iterative prototyping and feedback loops.
- • You will prototype and productionize scalable data pipelines and ML systems using modern tools like Python, SQL, PyTorch/TensorFlow/XGBoost, Snowflake, and Spark, ensuring models are robust, monitorable, and deployable at scale.
- • You will dive deep into early-stage products to identify opportunities for ML-driven product-market fit, experimenting rapidly while maintaining rigor in validation and deployment practices.
- • You will help shape the long-term data science roadmap and architecture across Assured’s platform, influencing technology choices, model governance, and MLOps best practices to elevate the team’s technical maturity.
- • You will mentor and elevate the data science practice through technical leadership, fostering a culture of experimentation, rigor, and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience as a Staff or Principal Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, or Applied AI specialist with a track record of deploying production ML systems in complex, regulated environments.
- • Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and ML frameworks including PyTorch, TensorFlow, XGBoost, or similar, with hands-on experience using modern data platforms such as Snowflake, Spark, or Databricks.
- • Demonstrated ability to work with both structured (tabular, relational) and unstructured (text, images, documents) data, including experience with NLP, computer vision, or multimodal modeling techniques.
- • Experience translating ambiguous business problems—especially in claims, insurance, or healthcare domains—into well-scoped ML solutions with clear success metrics and deployment paths.
- • Solid background in building decision systems, automation platforms, or rule-based/ML hybrid systems that operate at scale in production.
- • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience partnering effectively with product, engineering, and domain experts to drive alignment and execution.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive compensation package including base salary and equity grants designed to reward high-impact technical leadership.
- • Platinum-tier healthcare coverage covering medical, dental, and vision for employees and dependents.
- • Comprehensive life and disability insurance, including both short-term and long-term disability at no cost to the employee.
- • Unlimited PTO policy combined with paid holidays, enabling flexible, trust-based time off to support work-life balance.
- • Generous family leave policies including maternity and paternity leave to support new parents.
- • 401(k) plan with a 3% company contribution, automatically applied regardless of employee contributions.
- • Remote work stipends including lunch provided twice weekly, monthly phone allowance, and home office setup support.
- • Access to Health FSAs and HSAs for pre-tax savings on qualified medical expenses.
- • Regular virtual and occasional in-person team events and offsites to foster connection and culture across the distributed team.
