- • As a Staff Data Scientist in the Algorithm - Financial Markets team at Airwallex, you will play a critical role in managing the company’s risk portfolio by delivering actionable insights that shape risk strategy across financial markets, directly impacting global business operations and decision-making.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities include applying statistical and machine learning models to estimate risk exposures in FX, credit, capital, and other product areas; optimizing market forecasting, order routing, fund efficiency, and pricing; and collaborating with Product, Engineering, Trading, Risk, and Finance teams to deliver data-driven recommendations that support commercial and operational goals.
- • You will be part of a global, cross-functional data science team spanning Australia, China, USA, and Singapore, working alongside some of the brightest innovators in tech to revolutionize applied data science and platform solutions that power Airwallex’s rapid growth in the fintech space.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in financial markets analytics, advance your skills in machine learning and statistical modeling, and gain visibility into high-impact business decisions — positioning you to grow as a technical leader while contributing to the future of global banking and payments infrastructure.
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years of industry experience and an advanced degree (PhD or MS) in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Engineering, Sciences, Computer Science, or Economics
- • Strong understanding of financial markets, foreign exchange, and/or dynamic trading systems
- • Expertise in data querying (SQL), scripting (Python), and statistical/mathematical software (R), with experience in schema design and dimensional data modeling
- • Ability to perform statistical analysis and develop machine learning models to drive data-informed decisions
- • Experience communicating analytical results to executives and cross-functional teams to influence strategy
