- • Drive the data science roadmap for the Partnership, Loyalty & Pay (PLP) team within Lyft’s Rider organization, defining team goals and setting project priorities.
- • Partner with product, engineering, UX research, design, marketing, and business development teams to initiate, design, develop, and scale zero-to-one programs that shape rider and partner product strategy.
- • Define and maintain key objectives and metrics aligned with Rider, Marketplace, and Lyft’s overarching goals, including incrementality measurement for partnerships, retention impact of loyalty programs, and health of Pay products.
- • Apply advanced analytical techniques such as A/B testing, difference-in-differences, synthetic control, and other quasi-experimental methods to drive data-informed business decisions.
- • Craft sophisticated measurement frameworks using counterfactual analysis and advanced experimentation to determine true incrementality of programs and interventions.
- • Present data-centric insights and strategic recommendations to VP and C-level stakeholders to influence product and business strategy across organizations.
- • Serve as a thought leader and go-to expert on causal inference, measurement, and experimental design for PLP stakeholders and dependency teams.
- • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level data scientists, leading code reviews and elevating team-wide standards for modeling and reasoning.
- • Translate ambiguous business needs into structured scientific roadmaps and deliver end-to-end solutions that balance rider, driver, and business outcomes.
- • Collaborate with adjacent teams across Rider, Marketplace, and Finance to align on cross-functional priorities and ensure cohesive decision-making.
- • Advise teams on best practices in causal modeling and experimental design, challenging existing scientific premises to improve product vision and outcomes.
- • Maintain technical mastery of Python and SQL for data analysis, modeling, and pipeline development.
- • Ensure all analyses and models are rigorously validated and communicated clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- • Work in-office on a hybrid schedule, required to be present in the San Francisco office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays each week.
- • Utilize Lyft’s monthly credits and complimentary Lyft Pink membership as part of daily operations and rider experience understanding.
🎯 Requirements
- • Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science) or equivalent professional expertise in high-impact environments
- • 6+ years of professional experience in data science with a history of implementing causal models that deliver tangible business value
- • Subject matter expertise in causal inference, machine learning, and experimental design
- • Technical mastery of Python and SQL for data analysis and modeling
- • Proven experience crafting sophisticated measurement frameworks, including counterfactual analysis and advanced experimentation to determine true incrementality
- • Strong communication skills to explain complex scientific results and balance velocity with rigor to executives and peers
