📋 Description

• As a Staff Developer on the Frontend Foundations team at Jane Technologies, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of frontend engineering across the organization by owning and evolving critical platform systems that enable product teams to build faster, more reliable, and AI-native applications. Your work directly supports Jane’s mission to help clinics care for patients by ensuring that the foundational tools and architectures used by hundreds of developers are modern, scalable, and intuitive.
• You will own and evolve the Module Federation architecture, strengthening its topology, registry governance, and technical decision-making frameworks so that product teams can confidently build and scale their applications on a stable, well-documented foundation.
• You will lead the frontend modernization strategy by defining and executing a clear deprecation path for legacy patterns, developing codemod tooling at scale, and partnering with product teams to migrate safely and sustainably toward a unified, future-ready architecture.
• You will act as a technical bridge across value stream teams, influencing architecture decisions that extend beyond the Frontend Foundations team’s immediate scope, ensuring alignment and consistency in frontend practices organization-wide.
• You will grow the React Native foundation alongside the web platform, establishing shared patterns, tooling, and standards that make mobile development a first-class citizen in Jane’s engineering ecosystem, enabling seamless code reuse and consistent user experiences.
• You will elevate frontend observability across web and mobile by instrumenting systems with tools like Sentry and Datadog, diagnosing complex performance and reliability issues, and using data to drive continuous improvements in developer experience and system health.
• You will contribute to a 6–12 month technical strategy for the team’s domains, taking ownership of execution, managing risks and timelines proactively, and ensuring the team ships high-impact work with confidence and predictability.
• You will raise the technical ceiling for the team through architecture reviews, well-written ADRs, high-quality code reviews, and hands-on pairing, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
• You will actively coach and elevate teammates through knowledge sharing, pairing, and constructive feedback, viewing team success as your own and helping others grow into stronger engineers.
• You will champion AI-native development by establishing best practices, creating pathways from experimental AI tooling to standard practice, and helping teams distinguish genuine acceleration from hype, ensuring AI is used meaningfully to improve workflows and outcomes.

🎯 Requirements

• Significant professional experience as a frontend or platform engineer, including multiple years at a Senior level and a proven track record of leading large, complex, cross-team initiatives.
• Deep expertise with Module Federation, frontend build systems (webpack, rspack), CI tooling, and JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystem standards in large-scale codebases.
• Hands-on production experience with React Native, ideally including work on shared design systems or tooling that spans web and mobile platforms.
• Demonstrated success in modernizing legacy systems, including defining migration strategies, navigating unfamiliar codebases, and building automation or codemod tooling at scale.
• Proven architectural leadership through design docs, ADRs, and cross-team technical influence that has resulted in measurable improvements to system quality, developer velocity, or reliability.
• Strong AI fluency, including experience shipping AI-powered tooling and the ability to discern genuine AI acceleration from noise, with a focus on enabling others to adopt AI effectively.
• Comfort operating as a technical co-leader alongside a Development Manager, contributing to roadmaps, managing technical risk, and communicating complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences, including leadership.
• Familiarity with frontend observability tooling (e.g., Sentry, Datadog) and a consistent practice of using data to inform technical decisions and measure impact.
