- • Design and evolve core identity services that power secure access across 1Password’s consumer and enterprise products, including authentication, authorization, session management, device trust, and policy enforcement.
- • Architect scalable, resilient, and secure distributed systems to support Unified Access Management and Extended Access Management strategies aligned with modern workflows involving people and AI agents.
- • Lead technical strategy and execution for the Identity Platform, ensuring alignment with company-wide goals and advancing modern identity capabilities such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, SCIM, WebAuthn, and FIDO2.
- • Write production-grade code in Go with a focus on reliability, durability, maintainability, and secure development practices across high-traffic identity systems.
- • Drive best practices in coding, testing, deployment, observability, and operational readiness to raise quality standards and reduce system risk.
- • Mentor engineers at all levels, foster technical growth, and cultivate a security-first culture across engineering teams.
- • Partner with cross-functional leaders to build consensus, manage dependencies, and deliver technical vision that impacts both product and platform roadmaps.
- • Anticipate and mitigate security risks in authentication and authorization systems, ensuring compliance with evolving industry standards and zero trust architectures.
- • Improve the developer experience for teams building on identity services by enhancing APIs, documentation, tooling, and platform reliability.
- • Define and execute long-term technical roadmaps that balance innovation, scalability, and security while supporting the needs of over 180,000 businesses globally.
- • Engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders to communicate complex identity concepts, influence product direction, and align engineering efforts with business outcomes.
- • Stay current with emerging identity standards, threat models, and advancements in AI-driven security to continuously improve 1Password’s platform.
- • Participate in in-person engagement events, including annual department-wide offsites, team meetings, and customer/industry events, as required by role and responsibilities.
- • Contribute to a remote-first culture rooted in collaboration, transparency, and accountability, while operating within the constraints and expectations of U.S. and Canadian time zones.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of experience building resilient and reliable software systems
- • Deep Go programming expertise
- • 5+ years of hands-on experience in identity and access management
- • Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, and identity concepts (OAuth, OIDC, scoped access, policy enforcement)
- • Proven ability to lead identity strategy and mentor teams across functions using outstanding communication skills
- • Demonstrated experience defining and executing technical roadmaps
