• • As a Staff Engineer / Team Lead at Sunrise Robotics, you will play a pivotal role in providing strong technical direction as our systems and engineering teams experience significant growth. This position is central to shaping our system architecture, guiding critical engineering decisions, and ensuring that complex technical challenges are addressed with exceptional clarity, discipline, and foresight. You will collaborate extensively across multiple engineering teams, fostering alignment on technical strategies, translating ambitious product objectives into robust system designs, and ensuring our platform evolves in a manner that is inherently reliable, highly scalable, and easily maintainable.
• • Your responsibilities will encompass owning the technical direction for cross-team initiatives. This involves empowering engineers to deconstruct intricate tasks, navigate architectural trade-offs effectively, and propel projects forward with minimal friction. The role demands exceptional communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will be instrumental in identifying potential risks at the earliest stages, facilitating consensus among teams on optimal solutions, and ensuring that all engineering efforts remain firmly grounded in the practical needs of the product and the inherent realities of our complex systems.
• • Key responsibilities include: Designing and providing architectural guidance for distributed systems and services, primarily built using Python and Node.js. Leading in-depth technical discussions, empowering engineering teams to make well-informed architectural and implementation decisions that align with long-term goals. Taking ownership of and driving critical cross-team technical initiatives from conception to successful delivery, ensuring seamless alignment and execution across all involved parties. Deconstructing highly complex technical problems into clear, actionable architectural blueprints and detailed execution plans. Collaborating closely with engineering and product leadership to ensure that all technical decisions directly support overarching product goals and contribute to the sustained health and integrity of the system. Proactively identifying technical risks and potential roadblocks, working collaboratively with relevant teams to implement effective resolutions before they can impede project timelines or impact delivery. Mentoring and developing fellow engineers by offering expert technical guidance, constructive feedback, and essential architectural context to foster their growth and understanding. Conducting thorough reviews of system designs and code to uphold an exceptionally high standard for engineering quality, robustness, and long-term maintainability. Communicating technical decisions, including their underlying trade-offs, with exceptional clarity and precision to diverse audiences, including engineering teams, product managers, and other key stakeholders. Leveraging AI tools strategically and effectively to accelerate research, explore design possibilities, and enhance engineering workflows, all while maintaining a strong foundation of sound technical judgment and critical thinking.
