- • Build core product features end-to-end, from initial concept through to production deployment, involving backend, frontend, mobile, or web systems.
- • Define and own technical architecture decisions that serve as the foundation for other engineers’ work across the organization.
- • Take full ownership of high-impact, zero-to-one projects including scoping, planning, implementation, testing, and rollout.
- • Rapidly identify and unblock critical initiatives such as SDK development, network infrastructure changes, or new product bets with minimal oversight.
- • Ship high-quality, testable, and maintainable code at a fast pace while maintaining system reliability and performance.
- • Collaborate directly with leadership and cross-functional teams to shape the next set of product priorities and technical direction.
- • Translate product goals into technical solutions, ensuring decisions are driven by user impact and business outcomes, not just technical feasibility.
- • Lead by example in engineering excellence, setting standards for code quality, observability, and operational discipline.
- • Work autonomously in a fast-paced environment with high ambiguity, making confident decisions under uncertainty without predefined processes.
- • Elevate the engineering team through clear communication, mentorship, and alignment across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- • Operate with a strong ownership mindset, treating product outcomes as personal responsibilities rather than assigned tasks.
- • Engage in both strategic planning and hands-on coding, balancing long-term system design with immediate delivery needs.

- • Work on systems serving over 70 million users, where performance, scalability, and reliability are critical to business success.
- • Drive initiatives that directly contribute to Almedia’s goal of becoming Germany’s second bootstrapped unicorn.
- • Work closely with product, design, and data teams to ensure technical solutions align with user needs and business KPIs.
- • Maintain a high bar for quality while iterating rapidly in a startup environment where speed and impact are prioritized.
- • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and directly in English to align engineers, managers, and executives.
- • Operate in a fully remote or hybrid setup with a central office in Berlin, adapting workflows to maximize productivity and collaboration.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong experience as a senior or staff-level engineer in product teams
- • Strong backend foundation (e.g., TypeScript/Node); full-stack, mobile, or frontend experience a strong plus
- • Proven zero-to-one experience (early-stage startup, founding engineer, or similar)
- • Track record of owning complex projects and delivering them to production
