📋 Description

  • Lead the technical architecture and evolution of a full-stack platform built on React, Node.js/Express, Postgres, and AWS ECS infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Drive the organization-wide migration from JavaScript to TypeScript, establishing coding standards, tooling, and documentation patterns that the engineering team follows consistently.
  • Design and extend the ETL pipeline and config-driven AI integration framework to enable rapid, reliable deployment of AI-powered clinical features.
  • Own and document technical decisions through Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), leading design reviews and ensuring engineering choices are traceable, defensible, and aligned with clinical and product goals.
  • Identify, prioritize, and execute plans to resolve systemic technical debt across UI, API, database, and infrastructure layers — not just flagging issues but owning their resolution.
  • Define and execute the technical strategy for integrating machine learning and large language model (LLM) systems into the core platform, including model lifecycle management, inference optimization, and monitoring.
  • Mentor engineers at all levels through pairing, code reviews, and one-on-one coaching, measurably improving team capability and technical craftsmanship.
  • Establish and uphold engineering standards for code quality, testing practices, observability, on-call runbooks, and incident response protocols.
  • Serve as a technical thought partner to product, clinical, and business stakeholders, translating complex technical constraints into actionable insights for non-technical teams.
  • Participate in engineering hiring, helping define the technical bar and conducting interviews to attract and retain high-performing engineers.
  • Partner with engineering leadership and product to scope, sequence, and de-risk large-scale technical initiatives, balancing velocity with long-term sustainability.
  • Lead production support by defining runbooks, owning post-mortems, and driving systemic fixes from incidents — ensuring high reliability for a clinical therapy platform.
  • Maintain deep technical engagement across at least two layers of the stack (UI, API, database, infrastructure), while primarily focusing on team output over individual code contributions.
  • Collaborate closely with the CTO and clinical stakeholders to ensure engineering efforts align with the mission of delivering effective, accessible virtual ABA therapy.

🎯 Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or staff-level role
  • Deep expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript in a production full-stack environment
  • Strong command of React, Node.js/Express, and Postgres — ability to reason about performance, reliability, and maintainability at each layer
  • Proven experience designing and owning distributed systems or data pipeline architectures on AWS (ECS, RDS, S3, Lambda)
  • Track record of technical mentorship — making engineers around you measurably better
  • Significant experience architecting and deploying production-grade ML/AI systems, including LLM integration and model lifecycle management
