📋 Description

• • Lead the technical vision and long-term architecture for Zapier’s Revenue Zone, which handles billing, subscriptions, payments, pricing, entitlements, and checkout across all customer segments including self-serve, enterprise, and ecosystem offerings.
• • Design and evolve pricing primitives, service boundaries, and data models that enable product teams to launch new SKUs in days instead of months without requiring deep billing expertise.
• • Build configuration-driven infrastructure for pricing experimentation that supports rapid iteration while maintaining financial accuracy and compliance.
• • Own and strengthen revenue-critical systems including Billing, Pricing, Payments, Checkout, and Entitlements, ensuring they are resilient, observable, and correct with zero tolerance for revenue-impacting errors.
• • Decouple billing systems from account systems, clarify system boundaries, and consolidate pricing infrastructure to eliminate technical debt and prevent foundational rewrites.
• • Drive high-impact technical initiatives that improve scalability, developer experience, and speed of iteration for pricing and packaging changes across the organization.
• • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Finance, Sales, Support, and Operations teams to align technical strategy with business goals and customer needs.
• • Define API designs, data models, caching strategies, and system architectures optimized for performance, reliability, and seamless integration across internal and external consumers.
• • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks through profiling, database optimization, and caching to improve latency, reliability, conversion rates, and customer retention.
• • Implement proactive detection mechanisms, safe rollback protocols, and revenue accuracy safeguards to prevent issues before they impact customers or financial reporting.
• • Mentor engineers across the Revenue Zone by conducting thoughtful code reviews, sharing patterns and tooling, and raising technical standards to build durable, reusable foundations.
• • Champion comprehensive documentation and developer experience to reduce onboarding friction and accelerate development velocity across teams.
• • Navigate large, mature codebases with confidence, identifying leverage points for meaningful progress without waiting for ideal conditions or clean slates.
• • Use AI coding tools responsibly in daily workflow, applying human judgment to revenue-critical logic and guiding teams on when automation is appropriate versus when manual oversight is non-negotiable.
• • Translate business strategy into technical direction and ensure engineering tradeoffs are clearly understood at the business level by leadership.
• • Operate as part of the Revenue Zone leadership team, shaping roadmap decisions and amplifying impact across engineering, product, and design.
• • Ensure systems support metered billing, enterprise contract management, revenue recognition, and complex pricing models while maintaining operational integrity for global customers.
• • Reduce recurring operational pain points and eliminate systemic risks that could lead to revenue loss, compliance issues, or customer support escalations.
• • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and customer-centric problem solving where success is measured by business outcomes, not technical elegance.
