- • As a Staff Engineer in Decision Engineering at Forter, you will lead the architecture and evolution of the real-time decision engine that powers fraud prevention for global merchants, directly impacting trust and security in digital commerce at massive scale.
- • You will design and implement highly available, low-latency distributed systems that process billions of daily requests, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability for critical business decisions.
- • You will collaborate with product, risk, and customer-facing teams to translate risk strategies and merchant needs into robust system capabilities, including configurable decision flows, auditability, and analytics surfaces.
- • You will mentor and coach engineers across levels in distributed systems design, reliability engineering, and systems thinking, elevating the engineering standard across the Decision Engineering group.
- • You will participate in technical discussions and customer interactions, providing expert guidance during enterprise integrations and ensuring clear communication of complex systems to both technical and non-technical stakeholders worldwide.
- • You will work on core backend components including ingestion and enrichment pipelines, schema management systems, and self-serve API platforms, contributing to a platform that serves some of the world’s largest merchants.
- • You will help shape the foundation of Forter’s decisioning platform by driving technical excellence, ownership, and innovation in a high-impact, high-ownership role.
- • You will join a mission-driven company that processes over one billion identities to isolate fraudsters and protect legitimate customers, ensuring trust is backed by data and cutting-edge technology.
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years of experience building backend systems in large-scale production environments
- • Strong programming skills in Python, Java, Kotlin, or Node.js
- • Hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies (AWS, Kubernetes, Docker)
- • Proven ability to design and maintain high-scale distributed systems
- • Strong sense of ownership, autonomy, and accountability
- • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex systems clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
