📋 Description

• Join Nagarro as a Staff Engineer, Java Backbase and become the technical anchor for one of our fastest-growing digital banking practices. You will own the end-to-end backend architecture for green-field and brown-field projects that serve millions of end-users across North America, EMEA and APAC.
• Architect, code and evolve microservice ecosystems that power next-generation mobile and web banking experiences. You will leverage Java 17, Spring Boot and the Backbase platform to deliver features such as real-time payments, open-banking APIs, card-management and AI-driven personalization at scale.
• Translate complex business requirements into elegant, secure and highly-performant backend solutions. Work directly with product owners, UX researchers and compliance teams to ensure every API endpoint and data model meets regulatory standards (PSD2, PCI-DSS, GDPR) while delighting customers with sub-100 ms response times.
• Lead service-orchestration and widget-customization initiatives on the Backbase platform. Design reusable SDKs, accelerators and reference implementations that reduce time-to-market for future projects by 30 % and set the gold standard for the entire practice.
• Champion modern DevOps and SRE practices. Define Docker-based build pipelines, Kubernetes deployment blueprints and automated canary releases that achieve 99.9 % availability and zero-downtime deployments across multi-region clusters.
• Establish and enforce coding standards, performance benchmarks and non-functional requirements. Conduct rigorous code reviews, static-analysis scans and chaos-engineering drills to guarantee security, scalability and maintainability.
• Drive continuous performance tuning and cost optimization. Profile JVM runtimes, tune garbage-collection strategies, and refactor data-access patterns to cut cloud spend by double-digit percentages while handling 10× traffic spikes during peak retail seasons.
• Mentor a distributed team of senior and mid-level engineers through pair programming, brown-bag sessions and architecture guilds. Create career-growth roadmaps that transform promising developers into the next generation of staff and principal engineers.
• Author and maintain crystal-clear technical documentation—from high-level solution blueprints to low-level sequence diagrams—ensuring knowledge is democratized and onboarding time for new engineers drops below one week.
• Run rapid POCs to evaluate emerging technologies (Project Loom, reactive streams, GraphQL federation, event-driven architectures) and provide evidence-backed recommendations that shape the 3-year technical vision for the practice.
• Collaborate with InfoSec and Risk teams to embed threat-modeling, secure-coding and privacy-by-design principles from day one. Achieve 100 % automated security-scan coverage and maintain an OWASP Top-10 vulnerability count of zero.
• Influence customer C-suites and enterprise architects during pre-sales workshops, presenting reference architectures and live demos that win multi-million-dollar engagements and expand Nagarro’s footprint in the fintech space.

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on backend development with Java 17 and Spring Boot in enterprise-grade environments
• Proven experience designing and delivering microservices on the Backbase platform, including service orchestration, SDK creation and widget customization
• Deep expertise in Docker, Kubernetes and cloud-native patterns for high-availability, auto-scaling systems
• Demonstrated ability to optimize relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB) data stores for performance and scale
• Solid grasp of CI/CD, automated testing (unit, integration, contract) and DevOps best practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences across global teams
