📋 Description

• As a Staff Engineer - UI at Cloudera, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience of Cloudera’s Anywhere Cloud platform, enabling enterprises to run data and AI workloads seamlessly across hybrid environments without vendor lock-in. Your work will directly impact how organizations interact with complex data infrastructure, making it intuitive, performant, and accessible.
• You will collaborate end-to-end with UX designers to translate user needs into clear user flows, interaction patterns, and UI specifications, ensuring that technical implementation aligns with user-centered design principles from concept to production.
• You will implement those flows using React and modern JavaScript (or TypeScript), building high-quality, maintainable, and testable UI components that adhere to best practices in performance, accessibility, and state management.
• You will partner closely with backend engineers to design and integrate APIs that support responsive, data-driven interfaces, ensuring seamless communication between frontend and backend systems in a Kubernetes-powered hybrid cloud architecture.
• You will work with UI leads across Cloudera to align on design language, contribute reusable components and patterns to a shared design system, and ensure visual and functional consistency across all products in the portfolio.
• You will define and communicate the frontend/UI vision for your team, establishing technical direction, quality standards, and best practices while mentoring junior engineers through code reviews, design critiques, and pairing sessions to elevate team capability.
• You will operate within Cloudera’s Engineering organization, a globally distributed team driving innovation in enterprise data platforms, where your contributions will help advance the company’s mission to empower organizations to turn complex data into actionable insights using open-source-powered hybrid cloud technology.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in frontend architecture and technical leadership, gaining influence over product direction while expanding your knowledge of cloud-native systems, Kubernetes, and API-driven platform design—positioning you as a key architect of Cloudera’s next-generation user experience.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience building modern web applications using React and JavaScript (or TypeScript), or equivalent experience via Masters/PhD.
• Strong understanding of UI architecture, state management, performance optimization, and accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG, ARIA).
• Proven ability to collaborate closely with UX teams to turn early concepts and prototypes into production-ready interfaces.
• Demonstrated technical leadership on the frontend: setting direction, driving alignment, and mentoring other engineers to grow their skills.
• Ability to work independently, make sound technical decisions, and proactively communicate risks, tradeoffs, and progress to stakeholders.
