📋 Description

• As a Staff Frontend Engineer on the Observability Drilldown team at Grafana Labs, you will build intuitive, guided workflows that make complex telemetry data easy to explore and understand through queryless, point-and-click experiences. Your work will directly empower users—from developers to SREs—to quickly gain insights and identify issues across metrics, logs, and traces without writing queries, enhancing observability for thousands of global companies including Bloomberg, JPMorgan Chase, and eBay.
• Day to day, you will improve and enhance queryless exploration workflows, collaborate cross-functionally to deliver new features, lead projects from concept to implementation, participate in on-call rotations, mentor team members, influence the product roadmap, and expand your expertise in Grafana’s cloud products and codebase, all while leveraging AI-assisted development tools with a company-funded budget to accelerate prototyping and refactoring.
• You’ll join Grafana Labs, a remote-first, open-source powerhouse with over 20M global users of Grafana, known for its transparent, innovation-driven culture rooted in autonomy, trust, and community collaboration. The Drilldown team focuses on operational excellence, experimentation, and mentorship, blending high performance with a blameless, growth-oriented environment where shipping value continuously is prioritized over perfection.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in modern frontend engineering with React and TypeScript, strengthen your product design and usability instincts, master performance optimization and accessibility practices, and grow as a technical leader through mentorship, shared ownership via RSUs, and exposure to cutting-edge observability challenges—all while advancing your career in a high-impact, globally distributed team shaping the future of observability.

🎯 Requirements

• Deep experience building integrated frontend applications with React and TypeScript, following modern patterns and best practices
• Proven ability to take ideas from concept to reality—from brainstorming and design to prototypes, polished UIs, and production-ready features
• Strong sense of product design and usability, with ability to contribute creatively to user workflows and visual polish
• Expertise in best-in-class coding practices including automation-based testing, maintainable architectures, accessibility, and performance optimization
• Excellent communication skills in a remote-first, collaborative environment with a track record of working effectively across teams
• Bonus: Experience with Open Telemetry
