- • Define and build Elliptic's enterprise-wide MLOps platform that unifies model training, deployment, monitoring, and governance into a scalable, production-grade discipline.
- • Design the target-state MLOps architecture covering model training pipelines, serving infrastructure, feature management, and governance, and produce Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) to guide investment and alignment.
- • Evaluate and recommend build-vs-buy-vs-stop decisions for MLOps tooling, using cost modelling and trade-off analysis against Elliptic’s AWS-primary and Databricks ecosystem constraints.
- • Collaborate with InfoSec to enhance the existing model registry and model risk management framework, closing gaps in metadata, lineage, approval workflows, drift detection, and compliance reporting.
- • Build and ship production-grade ML infrastructure including CI/CD pipelines for models, real-time and batch serving systems, and feature store integrations alongside a small team of infrastructure engineers.
- • Instrument observability across the entire ML lifecycle: training metrics, serving latency and throughput, data quality, and prediction drift, integrating with Elliptic’s existing observability stack.
- • Onboard four distinct internal consumer groups — Product Engineering, Intelligence Research, InfoSec, and Operations — by creating documentation, runbooks, and reference architectures to enable self-service adoption.
- • Ensure the platform enforces governance rigor required for a regulated financial crime context while maintaining flexibility to support rapid experimentation by research teams.
- • Operate with autonomy in ambiguous environments, making decisions with incomplete information and creating structure where none exists, while remaining adaptable to new evidence.
- • Influence adoption through clarity, evidence, and quality of work rather than positional authority, earning trust by delivering platforms that are demonstrably better than ad-hoc alternatives.
- • Write production-grade, tested, observable, and well-documented code and systems designed for reliability and operability by others.
- • Work directly with data scientists and ML engineers across teams to understand their unique needs: reproducible training pipelines for product teams, GPU orchestration and dataset versioning for research, audit trails for InfoSec, and scheduled batch inference for Operations.
- • Maintain a focus on production engineering excellence: systems must be reliable, maintainable, and designed for long-term operational sustainability.
- • Actively use AI tools to accelerate prototyping, pressure-test designs, and improve engineering velocity, recognizing AI as a core component of modern engineering practice.
- • Contribute to the evolution of Elliptic’s ML culture by bridging the gap between research agility and production compliance.
🎯 Requirements
- • Deep hands-on experience building MLOps platforms, including model registries, feature stores, and ML pipeline orchestration
- • Working knowledge of model serving patterns: real-time inference, batch prediction, A/B deployment, and deployment strategies
- • AWS infrastructure experience (ECS/EKS, S3, IAM, networking) and comfort operating in a Databricks ecosystem or equivalent lakehouse architecture
- • Experience with model monitoring: model evaluation, data drift detection, prediction drift, and performance degradation alerting
- • A track record of building something from zero and bringing it to a state where others could operate and extend it
- • Experience in a regulated industry (fintech, financial services, healthcare) where model governance is a compliance requirement
