These SDKs are designed to capture essential telemetry data, including traces, metrics, logs, crashes, and user sessions, with a strong emphasis on seamless integration with OpenTelemetry and Grafana Cloud.
• • As a Staff Mobile Engineer, you will be instrumental in building and enhancing high-performance, low-overhead SDKs for both iOS (Swift/Objective-C) and Android (Kotlin/Java). Your primary focus will be on ensuring these SDKs are stable, performant, and offer an exceptional developer experience. This involves designing and implementing key features such as sophisticated session tracking, robust crash reporting mechanisms, intelligent sampling strategies, automatic context propagation across distributed systems, and deep integrations with the OpenTelemetry standard. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of these features, from conception to deployment and ongoing maintenance.
• • This role demands end-to-end project ownership. You will be expected to tackle large, complex, and often ambiguous problems, breaking them down into manageable, incremental deliverables. This includes designing modular and scalable solutions, shipping Minimum Viable Products (MVPs), actively gathering feedback from internal and external users, and iterating rapidly to refine and improve the SDKs. A strong commitment to quality is paramount; you will ensure the reliability and maintainability of the SDKs through comprehensive automated testing, robust Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines, clear and thorough documentation, and the implementation of smooth, backwards-compatible upgrade paths for our users.
• • Collaboration is key to success in this role. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including backend engineers, frontend developers, product managers, and solutions engineers, to ensure that our mobile observability solutions integrate seamlessly with the broader Grafana ecosystem and provide cohesive end-to-end visibility. A significant aspect of this role involves active engagement with the open-source community. This includes reviewing pull requests, participating in design discussions, contributing to technical proposals, and guiding external contributors to foster a healthy and collaborative open-source project. Your expertise will help shape the future direction of our mobile observability offerings.
