Full Job Description

📋 Description

  • • Fluidstack is at the forefront of building the essential infrastructure for abundant intelligence, partnering with leading AI labs, governments, and enterprises to accelerate the realization of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). We are a highly motivated and committed team dedicated to delivering world-class infrastructure solutions with a sense of urgency. Our core philosophy is to treat our customers' outcomes as our own, fostering a culture of pride in the systems we build and the trust we earn. If you are driven by purpose, obsessed with excellence, and ready to dedicate significant effort to accelerating the future of intelligence, we invite you to join us in shaping what's next.
  • • As a Staff Network Engineer, WAN, you will play a pivotal role in architecting, implementing, and operating the global network backbone that connects Fluidstack’s distributed data centers and GPU clusters. Your primary responsibility will be to design, build, and maintain high-performance, secure, and exceptionally reliable wide-area networks (WANs) that are critical for high-volume data movement across diverse geographical regions. This role demands close collaboration with our compute, storage, infrastructure, and facility teams to ensure seamless, ultra-low-latency connectivity across our entire infrastructure footprint, which is vital for the demanding workloads of AI and high-performance computing.
  • • You will be instrumental in architecting, implementing, and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency WAN links that span across our numerous data center sites. This involves a deep understanding of optical transport technologies such as DWDM, ROADM, and coherent optics, along with hands-on experience with relevant platforms like Ciena.
  • • A significant aspect of this role involves leading all aspects of carrier engagements. This includes the end-to-end management of circuit procurement, rigorous contract negotiation, diligent SLA management, and proactive escalation handling to ensure service continuity and performance.
  • • You will be responsible for continuously monitoring and optimizing the performance of our interconnects. This includes fine-tuning routing protocols, minimizing packet loss, and efficiently managing bandwidth utilization to meet the ever-increasing demands of our AI workloads.
  • • Coordination with ICT and facility teams will be essential for managing physical fiber entries, cross-connects, and demarcation points, ensuring robust physical layer connectivity.
  • • Developing and maintaining comprehensive WAN capacity models is crucial. You will need to accurately forecast future bandwidth needs, aligning them precisely with our deployment roadmap and growth projections.
  • • A key objective is to automate the configuration, provisioning, and monitoring of our WAN infrastructure. This will involve leveraging modern automation tools and practices to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and improve scalability.
  • • You will deploy and maintain essential secure connectivity solutions, including site-to-site VPNs, private peering arrangements, and direct connects with hyperscale cloud providers, ensuring secure and efficient data exchange.
  • • Troubleshooting complex and challenging network issues will be a regular part of your responsibilities, requiring deep analytical skills and a systematic approach to problem-solving.
  • • Implementing and refining best practices for network redundancy, failover mechanisms, and disaster recovery strategies is paramount to ensuring high availability and resilience.
  • • You will collaborate closely with infrastructure engineering teams, Site Reliability Engineers (SREs), and software development teams to integrate network solutions seamlessly into the broader infrastructure and application stack.
  • • This role also involves actively supporting future growth by contributing to the strategic planning and execution of our global network expansion initiatives, ensuring our network can scale to meet future demands.
