- • Join Campus LLC as a foundational member of our Platform Engineering team, a critical role in accelerating the talent of tomorrow by reimagining higher education. This position is instrumental in building and scaling the technology that underpins our innovative two-year accredited college program, which offers students in-demand business and AI skills. As a Staff Platform Engineer, you will be at the forefront of ensuring Campus can operate reliably, securely, and with exceptional developer velocity, directly contributing to our mission to make quality education accessible and effective.
- • In this dynamic, generalist role, your day-to-day responsibilities will be diverse and impactful, spanning multiple engineering disciplines. You will be instrumental in shipping robust backend systems that are the backbone of our operations, including critical workflows for admissions, financial aid, registrar functions, comprehensive reporting, and engaging real-time student experiences. A significant part of your role will involve building and meticulously maintaining sophisticated data pipelines and ingestion flows, ensuring that our analytics, product development, and operational automation efforts are powered by accurate and timely data. You will take ownership of our Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes and deployment workflows, a crucial responsibility that guarantees fast, reliable, and seamless releases across our backend, mobile, and frontend applications. Furthermore, you will be tasked with designing and scaling our cloud infrastructure, leveraging cutting-edge technologies within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Infrastructure as Code principles using Terraform. A key focus will be on enhancing the developer experience and the data scientist experience by creating and refining essential tools, optimizing development environments, streamlining testing workflows, and implementing internal automations that boost productivity. You will also play a vital role in strengthening our security and compliance posture by implementing improved access control mechanisms, ensuring audit-ready logging, managing secrets effectively, and hardening our infrastructure against potential threats.
- • You will be joining a company that is not just innovating in education but is also recognized for its forward-thinking approach, being named one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies of 2024. Campus is backed by an impressive roster of investors, including General Catalyst, Founders Fund, Bloomberg Beta, 8VC, Rethink Education, Sam Altman, Jason Citron, and Shaquille O’Neal, reflecting a strong belief in our vision for the future of education. The engineering team is dedicated to building a world-class organization, and this role is central to that objective. You will collaborate closely with a talented group of engineers across backend, mobile, data, and product teams, fostering a culture of shared success and continuous improvement. The team values clear communication, collaborative problem-solving, and a low-ego approach to achieving ambitious goals.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity for significant professional growth and impact. You will gain invaluable experience in end-to-end system ownership, from conceptualization and design to implementation and maintenance at scale. By improving developer and data scientist experience, you will directly influence the efficiency and output of the entire engineering organization. You will deepen your expertise in cloud infrastructure, data engineering, and backend systems, working with a modern technology stack including GCP, Terraform, Docker, GitHub Actions, Go, Python, PostgreSQL, BigQuery, Kubernetes-style runtimes, Datadog, and PostHog. You will have the chance to shape technical direction, introduce new ideas and technologies, and contribute to solving complex technical challenges that unlock product velocity and drive the company's mission forward. This is a chance to be an integral player in transforming higher education and building a platform that empowers the next generation of talent.
- • The Staff Platform Engineer will be responsible for architecting and implementing scalable and resilient backend services that support core Campus operations, including student admissions, financial aid processing, and registrar functions, ensuring seamless delivery of educational content and student support. You will develop and optimize data ingestion pipelines and ETL processes to feed our data warehouse, enabling robust analytics and data-driven decision-making across product, marketing, and operations teams. A key responsibility will be to enhance and maintain our CI/CD infrastructure, automating build, test, and deployment pipelines to accelerate the release cycle for all product teams while upholding high standards of quality and stability. You will design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure on GCP, utilizing Terraform for declarative configuration and ensuring the platform's scalability, security, and cost-efficiency. Furthermore, you will proactively identify and implement improvements to the developer tooling and workflows, aiming to reduce friction, increase productivity, and foster a culture of engineering excellence. This includes developing internal tools and platforms that streamline common development tasks and enhance the overall engineering experience. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to understand their needs, provide platform support, and ensure alignment on technical strategies, acting as a bridge between infrastructure and application development. A critical aspect of the role involves embedding security best practices into all aspects of the platform, including implementing robust access controls, managing secrets securely, ensuring comprehensive audit logging, and hardening infrastructure configurations to meet compliance requirements.
- • The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in building and maintaining production-grade systems, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure at scale, demonstrating a deep understanding of distributed systems and software engineering principles. You will leverage your expertise in Go or Python to design and implement backend services that are not only functional but also highly reliable, maintainable, and performant. Your hands-on experience with cloud platforms like GCP, coupled with proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and containerization technologies like Docker, will be essential for managing and evolving our cloud environment. A strong commitment to observability, reliability, and performance tuning will be crucial for ensuring the health and efficiency of our platform. You will contribute to the continuous improvement of our CI/CD pipelines, ensuring efficient and safe software delivery. Your experience with data warehousing solutions and operational data workflows will enable you to effectively support our data-centric initiatives. You will be a proactive learner, eager to explore new technologies and methodologies, and dedicated to raising the overall engineering standard within the team. Your ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively with a diverse team, while maintaining a humble and team-oriented attitude, will be key to your success in this role. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of our platform, driving innovation, and ensuring the technical foundation can support Campus's ambitious growth and educational mission.
