📋 Description

• Serve as a founding member of the Privacy Engineering team, bridging technical implementation with legal and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance with global data protection frameworks including GDPR and CCPA/CPRA.
• Act as a technical advisor to legal, product, and engineering teams, ensuring product updates and technical implementations align with privacy-by-design principles and legal obligations.
• Design, implement, and validate privacy-preserving features within the World App, Orb, and related systems, embedding anonymization, encryption, data minimization, and user control mechanisms at the architectural level.
• Define and maintain canonical data flow maps and comprehensive data inventories across all company systems, enabling accurate data governance, classification, and protection strategies.
• Conduct threat modeling, privacy design reviews, and code-level assessments to identify and mitigate privacy vulnerabilities and ensure adherence to the highest security and privacy standards.
• Analyze existing protocols and propose technical enhancements to prevent future privacy risks, ensuring systems evolve to meet emerging regulatory and technological challenges.
• Partner directly with privacy attorneys to translate regulatory requirements into precise technical specifications, leading or supporting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and ensuring privacy notices and consents accurately reflect system functionality.
• Prepare and deliver technical briefings, demonstrations, and written materials to regulators and internal stakeholders, providing clear, transparent, and technically grounded explanations of the company’s privacy architecture.
• Collaborate with Communications and Marketing teams to create visual demonstratives, diagrams, videos, and animations that communicate privacy principles in regulator-friendly and user-accessible formats.
• Establish and enforce enterprise-wide privacy engineering standards, review processes, and architectural patterns to ensure consistency and scalability across all product lines.
• Engage in regulatory discussions and meetings as the primary technical subject matter expert, ensuring accurate representation of how World ID, Orb, and World App uphold privacy guarantees under scrutiny.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving global privacy regulations and technological advancements in cryptography, ensuring the company’s systems remain compliant and ahead of regulatory expectations.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives to integrate privacy into product development lifecycles from inception through deployment, influencing product roadmaps with technical privacy constraints and opportunities.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in privacy engineering or architecture
• Strong foundation in systems engineering with ability to analyze and understand complex codebases
• Fluency in classical and modern cryptographic functions including symmetric and public key cryptography, hash algorithms, and zero knowledge proofs
• Proven experience working with global privacy frameworks such as GDPR and CCPA/CPRA and engaging with data protection authorities
• Demonstrated ability to lead or significantly contribute to cross-functional privacy and security projects
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting technical privacy concepts to regulators and non-technical stakeholders
