  • • Design end-to-end product experiences for employers on Handshake’s platform to improve how they discover, connect with, and hire early-career talent.
  • • Own the full design lifecycle—from research and wireframing to high-fidelity prototypes and post-launch iteration—working closely with product, engineering, and data teams.
  • • Solve complex, ambiguous human-centered problems that directly impact employer engagement, hiring outcomes, and revenue growth for Handshake’s three-sided marketplace.
  • • Translate ambiguous business goals into clear, intuitive user flows and interactions that balance employer needs with student access and equity.
  • • Rapidly prototype and test design concepts to gather early feedback, iterate quickly, and reduce risk before development begins.
  • • Maintain a strong point of view on visual and interaction design, ensuring consistency, polish, and usability across all employer-facing surfaces.
  • • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define problems, set measurable goals, and align on success metrics tied to employer retention and conversion.
  • • Embed design thinking into daily workflows, elevating the team’s design maturity and helping others grow through mentorship and feedback.
  • • Prioritize ruthlessly, focusing on initiatives with the highest impact on revenue, employer satisfaction, and mission-driven outcomes.
  • • Take ownership of outcomes—roll up your sleeves to solve problems directly, even if they fall outside traditional design boundaries.
  • • Advocate for employers’ needs while ensuring the platform remains accessible and equitable for students from all educational backgrounds.
  • • Communicate design decisions, tradeoffs, and rationale clearly to stakeholders, leadership, and non-designers with data and user insights.
  • • Stay deeply aligned with Handshake’s mission to ensure every student, regardless of school or network, has a path to a great career.
  • • Continuously learn and adapt by studying emerging trends in B2B SaaS, AI-driven hiring, and employer behavior in the evolving job market.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 7+ years of product design experience, ideally on enterprise or B2B products
  • • Strong communicator who clearly articulates design decisions, tradeoffs, and reasoning to partners and leadership
  • • Deep visual and interaction design expertise with a proven track record of shipped work and measurable impact
  • • Highly collaborative, valuing diverse perspectives and incorporating them into the design process
  • • Design-led thinker who embeds design thinking into day-to-day work and helps others grow
  • • Impact-driven, prioritizing ruthlessly and focusing on work that matters most
