đź“‹ Description

  • • Parafin is on a mission to empower small businesses by providing them with seamless access to essential financial tools through the platforms they already utilize. We partner with leading companies such as DoorDash, Amazon, Worldpay, and Mindbody to deliver fast, flexible funding, spend management, and savings solutions directly to their small business users via simple integrations. Our core function is to abstract away the complexities of capital markets, underwriting, servicing, compliance, and customer service, allowing our partners to focus on their core offerings.
  • • As a Staff Product Engineer at Parafin, you will be an instrumental part of our engineering team, acting as the implemented product expert. This role sits at the crucial intersection of design, product, and backend development, ensuring that our user-facing features are not only functional but also intuitive and robust. You will be deeply involved in understanding the 'why' behind our features, the users who benefit from them, and the specific problems they are designed to solve.
  • • Your primary responsibility will be to own the entire frontend experience. This encompasses every transition, every edge case, and every state change that occurs from the moment a user interacts with our platform to what is ultimately displayed on their screen. While prior experience with our exact technology stack is not a prerequisite, a strong foundation in JavaScript fundamentals and hands-on experience shipping real-world products using React and TypeScript are essential.
  • • You will be tasked with building polished, high-quality user experiences at scale. This involves close collaboration with our design team to bring exceptional UI/UX to life. Beyond the visible elements, you will also take ownership of critical, less visible aspects that significantly impact user satisfaction, such as optimizing page speed, ensuring robust cross-browser compatibility, and implementing seamless mobile responsiveness.
  • • A key aspect of this role is to master the product itself. You will develop deep expertise and form well-reasoned opinions about the products we are building. This mastery will enable you to actively contribute to shaping the product roadmap, working alongside product managers and designers not just to execute on specifications, but to influence the direction and evolution of our offerings.
  • • You will be responsible for implementing comprehensive instrumentation and optimization strategies. This includes integrating observability tools to monitor user interactions, track core web vitals, and measure perceived performance. By analyzing this data, you will identify areas for improvement and drive performance enhancements.
  • • Crafting and maintaining frontend and product infrastructure is another significant area of focus. You will contribute to our build systems, develop internal tooling to enhance developer productivity, and refine our deployment pipelines. The goal is to create a more efficient and enjoyable development environment for the entire team.
  • • You will act as a strong advocate for an improved developer experience. This includes building internal tools and automating processes that help the engineering team move faster and more effectively. Your contributions will directly impact the team's ability to innovate and deliver value.
  • • This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who thrives in building products from the ground up. You will be expected to identify areas for improvement and take initiative to implement enhancements without requiring explicit permission. A keen eye for detail, including micro-interactions and handling of various user scenarios (e.g., slow networks, missing data, unexpected user input), is crucial.
  • • You will also play a vital role in knowledge sharing and mentorship within the team. Your ability to clearly articulate technical concepts, product decisions, and trade-offs to cross-functional stakeholders will be highly valued. You should possess strong opinions on frontend architecture, state management, and code organization, and be able to justify your choices with clear reasoning.
  • • Continuous learning and exploration of new technologies are highly encouraged. We value engineers who are curious about the latest advancements in coding and AI tools, and who actively seek to understand their potential applications and benefits.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 6+ years of experience in a frontend engineering role.
  • • Proven track record of creating beautiful and user-centric web experiences, with a strong eye for design.
  • • Deep understanding of JavaScript fundamentals and extensive experience with React and TypeScript.
  • • Experience in building scalable frontend infrastructure, including build systems, tooling, and deployment pipelines.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive salary range of $265k - $330k.
  • • Meaningful equity grant.
  • • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • • Flexible work-from-home policy.
  • • Unlimited Paid Time Off (PTO).
  • • Commuter benefits.
