- • As a Staff Product Manager for Confluent Cloud Kafka, you will be instrumental in advancing our mission to build the world's premier event streaming platform. This is a high-impact role focused on the Kafka Operator experience within Confluent Cloud, a critical component for our enterprise clientele. Your leadership will directly influence the ease of deployment, seamless management, and effective scaling of Confluent Cloud Kafka environments, empowering our customers to harness the full potential of data in motion.
- • We are seeking a seasoned and strategically minded Product Manager with a robust technical foundation. Your expertise should span cloud systems, a deep understanding of the Apache Kafka ecosystem, and a proven history of successfully launching and growing products tailored for developers and operators. You will be the driving force behind the vision, strategy, and execution for our Kafka Operator, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of our sophisticated customer base.
- • Your core responsibilities will encompass defining and owning the product strategy and vision for the Cloud Kafka Operator. This involves conducting in-depth market research, performing thorough competitive analysis, and translating high-level strategic objectives into detailed product requirements and exceptional user experience designs. You will be a key collaborator, working hand-in-hand with our Engineering, UX/UI Design, Documentation, Support, and Field teams throughout the entire product lifecycle. Furthermore, you will partner closely with Product Marketing to craft and execute successful go-to-market strategies, ensuring our innovations reach and resonate with the target audience.
- • In this role, you will be accountable for the success of significant product initiatives, guiding them from their nascent stages of conception and customer discovery through to their mature growth phases. You will establish yourself as the go-to authority for your product domain, providing essential guidance and clarity to Engineering, Design, Sales, and Marketing teams. Your insights will enable them to make informed trade-offs, build the optimal product, and drive its successful adoption and expansion within the market.
- • You will engage directly with customers to understand their most pressing challenges and unmet needs related to managing Kafka in cloud environments. This customer-centric approach will inform your product roadmap and ensure that Confluent Cloud Kafka Operator delivers tangible value and solves real-world problems for our enterprise users.
- • You will translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable plans for internal stakeholders and compelling narratives for external audiences. Your ability to bridge the gap between technical intricacies and business value will be crucial for product success.
- • You will champion the product vision internally, aligning various departments around a shared understanding of the product's goals, target market, and competitive positioning. This cross-functional alignment is key to efficient development and effective market entry.

🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum of 8 years of experience in software product management, with a strong preference for experience with developer-focused products.
- • Demonstrated empathy for enterprise customers and a passion for solving complex technical problems through innovative software solutions.
- • Proven ability to define and articulate a compelling product strategy and roadmap, collaborating effectively with customers, engineering, design, and go-to-market teams.
- • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to distill complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- • Strong technical acumen, particularly in distributed data systems, public and private cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), and stream processing technologies.
- • Bachelor's, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related technical field is highly desirable.
