- • As a Staff Product Manager for Gamified Experiences at Kraken, you will be at the forefront of innovation, tasked with building and scaling "Inky," a revolutionary consumer experience designed to make crypto trading feel more like an engaging game. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of how Kraken interacts with its users, moving beyond traditional financial tools to create highly engaging, short-term outcome-driven experiences that foster repeat play and deep user investment.
- • Your primary mission will be to drive Inky towards early product-market fit. This involves a deep understanding of game design principles, user psychology, and rapid iteration cycles. You will own the product end-to-end, from conceptualization and design to execution and optimization, with a relentless focus on key metrics such as usage, retention, and repeat engagement.
- • You will be responsible for designing and meticulously tuning the core loops of the Inky experience. This includes developing and refining incentives, progression systems, and reward mechanisms that maximize replayability and keep users coming back for more. The goal is to create a compelling user journey where trading is the underlying mechanic, but engagement and enjoyment are the ultimate objectives.
- • Treating the product as a live game is paramount. This means adopting a "ship, observe, tune, repeat" mentality. You will be expected to launch features quickly, closely monitor user behavior and feedback, analyze the data, and make rapid adjustments to optimize the experience. This agile approach is crucial for navigating the fast-paced crypto landscape and ensuring Inky remains competitive and engaging.
- • A significant part of your role will involve building and evolving lifecycle systems. This includes developing sophisticated notification strategies, crafting effective reactivation flows for dormant users, and implementing behavioral nudges that encourage continued participation and deeper engagement with the platform.
- • Data will be your compass. You will use quantitative and qualitative data to identify user drop-off points, pinpoint friction in the user journey, and discover leverage points for improvement. This data-driven approach will inform your prioritization and strategic decisions, ensuring that every iteration contributes to the product's growth and success.
- • Collaboration is key. You will work in lockstep with cross-functional teams, including Design, Engineering, Data Science, and Marketing. Your ability to foster strong partnerships and communicate effectively will be essential for shipping features rapidly and learning from each release at an accelerated pace.
- • Ruthless prioritization is a non-negotiable skill. You will need to make tough decisions about what gets built, focusing exclusively on initiatives that demonstrably move engagement metrics. Features or improvements that do not directly contribute to user engagement will be deferred or cut to maintain focus and momentum.
- • Beyond core feature development, you will also be responsible for identifying and fixing bugs and "papercuts" – small issues that can disrupt user flow, erode trust, or detract from the overall experience. Maintaining a high level of polish and reliability is critical for a gamified product.
- • You will continuously evolve the core mechanics of Inky. This involves experimenting with new ways to raise the stakes, sharpen the clarity of outcomes, and increase the overall replayability of the experience, ensuring that Inky remains fresh, exciting, and challenging for users.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to not only shape a groundbreaking product but also to influence how Kraken approaches high-frequency, gamified experiences across its entire consumer product suite. 🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years of product management experience, with a strong preference for experience in consumer-facing products, gaming, fintech, social platforms, or the crypto industry.
- • Proven track record of driving product-led growth and achieving significant improvements in user engagement, retention, and other key product metrics, rather than simply shipping features.
- • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments, making sound decisions with real stakes and under significant constraints.
- • Strong intuition for user psychology, motivation, and the design of effective incentive systems.
- • Excellent judgment under uncertainty, with the ability to be data-informed while confidently making decisions with incomplete information.
- • A builder mindset, comfortable with rapid experimentation, learning, and iteration, and less focused on achieving consensus.
